Position Summary

Micron is seeking an experienced Equipment Engineer II to support CMP operations in our 300mm semiconductor manufacturing facility in Manassas, VA. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing advanced wafer fabrication equipment to improve tool reliability, yield, productivity, and cost of ownership.

The successful candidate will work closely with process engineers, technicians, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to resolve equipment issues, lead improvement projects, and support high-volume manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize semiconductor manufacturing equipment for high-volume production.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues using structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis.
• Support tool installations, qualifications, upgrades, and process integration activities.
• Drive equipment uptime, reliability, throughput, and yield improvements.
• Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction projects.
• Analyze equipment and process data to identify performance gaps and corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, and best-known methods (BKMs).
• Partner with vendors and sister sites to improve equipment performance and share best practices.
• Provide technical leadership, training, and mentoring to technicians and shift teams.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and cleanroom requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent semiconductor industry experience.
• Semiconductor manufacturing or advanced equipment engineering experience.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with SPC, FDC, statistical analysis, and data-driven decision making.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting CMP equipment in a 300mm wafer fabrication environment.
• Hands-on experience with EBARA 300X and/or Applied Materials LK Prime (LKP) CMP platforms.
• Experience with equipment installation, qualification, maintenance strategy development, and reliability improvement.
• Knowledge of yield improvement methodologies, defect reduction, and process optimization.
• Experience working directly with equipment vendors and driving corrective actions to closure.
• Demonstrated success leading productivity, cost reduction, and equipment performance improvement projects.

Ideal Candidate

.An experienced CMP Equipment Engineer with direct knowledge of EBARA 300X and Applied Materials LK Prime (LKP) systems, strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities, and experience utilizing SPC, FDC, and data-driven methodologies to improve equipment performance. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of enhancing equipment reliability, yield, throughput, and overall factory performance in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment. Experience leveraging AI tools, automation, data analytics, or AI-enabled ways of working to improve engineering efficiency, troubleshooting effectiveness, and decision-making is highly desirable.
