As the Director of Operations, Data Science, you will bridge the gap between business needs and technical capabilities. You will mix in-depth knowledge of both internal and client-facing agency processes, practices, and culture with the ability to work hand-in-glove with agency technologists knowledge workers, and purpose-built AI agents and systems. You will primarily focus on directing the Data Science Team’s execution of ongoing SOLE Science workstreams, internal business optimization strategy development, and management of the Data Science team Agile development process. You will also facilitate in-person requirements-gathering and results communication around data science solutions for key clients.
Team Description:
The Information Technology Group’s Data Science team is tasked with augmenting agency capabilities anywhere data can be gathered and leveraged. As a part of this team, you will collaborate with knowledge workers, creators, and subject matter experts of all stripes as we develop and refine the kinds of data and intelligence tools that help companies shape culture.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Business Optimization Strategy. You're in the room where strategy is being shaped, contributing to how to most effectively use data to address agency priorities. With product ownership in your background, you will serve as the primary liaison to the SOLE Science team, facilitating conversations across the entire organization: Growth, Strategy, Enablement, XT, Finance. You coordinate seamlessly with Agency Tech and Products teams, ensuring data science efforts are synchronized with the broader platform and tech roadmap.
- Agile Development Management. Working alongside the Data Science EVP, you'll identify and prioritize high impact workstreams that move the needle. With the Data Science SVP, you'll translate business needs into technical language. You’ll lead epic planning sessions, backlog grooming, sprint planning and hosting sprint reviews that celebrate wins and course-correct with confidence.
- Data Science Project Support. You will collaborate with opportunity owners and projects lead to developing data science solutions for selected clients. You will also join the Data Science team for in-person client workshops and critical business development presentations.
- Communication. You thrive on translating complex datasets into clear, compelling insights. You have a gift for breaking down sophisticated analytical concepts into language that resonates with business leaders, clients, and colleagues from all backgrounds.
- Technical Expertise. Database concepts are second nature to you, and you navigate project management systems like Jira with ease. You're no stranger to Tableau or PowerBI (or similar BI platforms), transforming raw data into dashboards that actually tell a story and drive decisions.
The annual range for this role varies between $119,000- $160,000 and may vary depending on the candidate’s experience.
