Team Overview: The Continental Europe Finance team is split between the Paris and the Munich offices. The team consists of Financial Controllers, Treasurers, and Business Technology Solutions Managers. The Finance team is an integral part of the business and works closely with the Fund Management-; Acquisitions- and Asset Management teams.
Role and Accountabilities:
The Fund Controller will be accountable for all financial matters related to the management of Funds throughout Europe and globally and shall deliver the highest levels of financial reporting to assist in decision making within our client portfolios. The Fund Controller will manage accounting, budgeting, reporting, as well as tax and compliance requirements of regulated and non-regulated real estate funds and ensure full compliance in accounting and tax of the existing funds. The candidate will also oversee the investment vehicles accounting in Yardi – both on Property Management- and Fund level.
The Fund Controller brings legal, accounting and tax support to other departments on day-to-day basis. The candidate will support Portfolio management on performance analysis and reporting. The candidate will bring support to acquisition and asset management on transactions (structuring, DD, financing, SPA). The function requires frequent contact to external accountants, property managers, tax and legal advisors and banks.
Supervise and provide guidance to external accountants work in LaSalle´s bookkeeping system Yardi
Ensure that assets and G/L accounting activities have functional integrity and proper controls are well managed and operating efficiently in Yardi
Control and/or run closes, consolidation and investor reports as well as other reporting, e.g. towards banks, IPD, US GAAP out of Yardi
Enhance analysis and planning leveraging LaSalle´s bookkeeping system
Optimize cash calls and distribution for Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs)
Prepare capital call in conjunction with portfolio management
Optimize cash distribution from the Fund to investors
Prepare and follow up financial budgets and cash flow forecasts
Identify tax opportunities and risks, manage tax planning and audits
Coordinate tax work with outside counsels as well as with LaSalle’s Tax Manager/Director
Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax and regulatory requirements
Drive the legal and financial life of SPVs (capital increase, merger, liquidation)
Work closely with operations on e.g. deal structuring and due diligence
Ensure proper transfer of assets into the funds
Compute / review price offers on share deals
Review cash flow model, source and application of funds as well as agreements (e.g. sale and purchase agreements, guarantees)
Support financing team and debt administration when appropriate
Coordinate the annual audits (SPV & Fund Levels)
Develop and administer assessment to ensure appropriate levels of internal control
Share best practices
Lead or assist in transversal projects to implement best practices.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Relevant finance experience in an international environment, in an auditing firm; favorably regulated real estate vehicles
KVG or Real Estate knowledge is a need
Consolidation knowledge is a prerequisite
Strong numeracy, financial and digital skills
Process and system driven
Adaptable team player with the ability to operate autonomously when needed in a high-pressure environment
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to present to clients in both a verbal and written format
Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams including Fund Teams, analysts, finance, strategy and client services
Fluent German and English
Self-motivated, forward thinker and hands-on mentality
