Please note: The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $64,104 to $90,893, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

The Department of Health and Human Services’ Street Outreach Network (SON) is currently recruiting for a full-time Street Outreach Network Worker (Community Services Aide III (CSA III)).  The Street Outreach Network Worker will provide outreach, engagement, positive youth development, and culturally based trauma informed services primarily to newcomer adolescents and help direct them to the appropriate resources to address their social and emotional needs.   

 

This role is ideal for individuals who have direct experience engaging gang-involved youth or youth exposed to community violence, and who are confident working in fast-moving, relationship-based outreach environments. 

As a Street Outreach Network Worker for SON, you will be working directly with gang-involved youth and their families to provide engagement and positive youth development and culturally based trauma-informed services. This position will be responsible for working as part of a team approach to address gang and youth violence in the County.   

 

You will provide field-based engagement and intervention with gang-involved youth, newcomer adolescents, and families experiencing high levels of social, emotional, and community-based risk.

Much of this work occurs in community settings such as neighborhoods, schools, parks, recreation centers, and other locations where youth gather.

Work Schedule: The work schedule for this position will primarily be 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, but flexibility is required for outreach activities since engagement with youth or community partners may require additional evening or weekend availability.  

Driver’s License: This position requires possession of a valid driver's license to travel to County locations, schools, neighborhoods, community centers, partner agencies, and other outreach sites to engage youth and families, provide support services, and collaborate with community partners.

Experience: Three (3) years of experience providing delivery of social, health and/or public assistance services. 

 

Education: Completion of high school or High School Certificate of Completion recognized in the State of Maryland  

 

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. 

 

LICENSE:  Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid Class “C” (or equivalent) driver’s license from the applicant’s state of residence.   

 

Medical Protocol: This position requires successful completion of a pre-employment medical evaluation, which includes a physical examination and drug screening.
