About the role

The Team Leader, Business Support Services (“BSS”) will lead the hybrid business / technology team in key program activities such as the development of relevant strategies, requirements gathering, process mapping etc. The position also requires building, maintaining, and enhancing excellent relations with business partners and acting as a liaison between the vendor and business teams.

What you’ll do

• Conducts research, develops standards and methodologies for business analysis activities based on industry standards and best practices.
• Leads the business and technology teams in the business requirements gathering activities – organizes and lead business and system process reviews, engage business clients to elicit business requirements, uncover areas for improvement, conduct gap analysis and collaboratively participate in the development of effective solutions to address program objectives, and prepares recommendations for PATH management.
• Directs the efforts of the Business Analysts on the team in large-scale, high-risk initiatives involving multiple domains, with focus on quality and accuracy.
• Leads the documentation of business requirements, builds process maps, workflows, and other related documents for business requirements to support the PATH program.
• Monitors program risk, conducts impact analysis and executes post implementation activities.
• Ensures delivery of critical path items from subject matter experts or business unit owners.
• Employs effective strategies to proactively mitigate risks and facilitate resolution of problems, identifies impacts and risks of complex issues and communicates to PATH management.
• Reviews the functional/design specification for multiple stakeholders and/or the PATH vendor to ensure it meets the requirements approved in the business specification.
• Leads the development and documentation of testing strategies and ensure that testing activities effectively represent business requirements and system goals, fulfill end-user requirements and enables the effective identification of existing or potential issues.
• Convert business requirements into user stories, use cases and test cases.
• Leads, and supports as needed, the PATH team through user acceptance test planning and execution.
• Conducts analysis of issues identified in testing, documenting any system problems and discussing such problems with appropriate parties to advise of issues, recommends corrective measures and follow through with appropriate resolution.
• Ensures that OPTrust standards and industry best practices are applied as business requirement and testing documentations are developed and updated.
• Develops and recommends to users, methods for case processing where functionality does not exist
• Develops informal and formal training; prepares training plan, develops training program based on business training/developmental needs.
• Acts as a conduit between the business and the developer by ensuring that issues are addressed, documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
• Provides coaching, training, mentoring, and direction to Business Analysts and Quality Analysts.
• Provides back-up to the Senior Project Leader role and other duties as assigned.

What you bring

• Experience working as a Senior Business Analyst on large transformational programs with data conversion experience is an asset and/or 5+ years of recent hands-on experience working on large scope multidivisional projects, specifically involving defined benefit pension plans.
• Post-Secondary Education in a related field is preferred.
• Experience working with business stakeholders to compile business requirements, challenge the status quo, deliver innovative solutions that tackle business problems across multiple lines of business.
• Experience in leading Business Analysts and Quality Assurance teams.
• Experience in designing and executing testing automation is a strong asset.
• Expert business analysis skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Demonstrated professional experience in analytical and conceptual thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate complex situations and synthesize relevant information.
• Knowledge of system development life cycle, IT processes and ability to grasp complex situations and translate it into business language.
• Ability to work with minimal direct supervision, ability to conceptualize and think creatively, possessing critical thinking ability. High degree of accountability.
• Effective planning, time management, organizational skills with strong ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines in fast-paced settings.
• Proven ability to lead teams successfully through the business requirements, solutioning and testing phases of project implementations.
• Ability to prepare effective training materials, lead training sessions and/or provide one-on-one assistance.
• Advanced technical and documentation skills, including proven experience preparing process maps and workflows.
• Effective project leadership, communication and inter-personal skills; proven track record as an effective team player and contributor, and participation in consultative processes.
• Ability to engage effectively with various levels of management.
• Strong aptitude for using tools to prepare word documents, spreadsheets, and presentation materials.
• Business re-engineering experience and completion of a business re-engineering program or course is a strong asset.
• Expertise in MS Office suite, MS Visio, SQL (Oracle preferrable), JIRA and Confluence (or any other latest defect management suite).

The range of expected compensation for this position is $125,456 to $154,517 per year.
