JOB DESCRIPTION: Sr. Director, Global Strategic Insights
Job Scope / Mission:
The Sr. Director, Global Strategic Intelligence sets the vision and leads the agenda for proactive, board-ready strategic intelligence that informs enterprise-level decision making. This role delivers comprehensive state of the consumer and marketplace assessments, emerging trends and foresights, global category benchmarking versus the broader food industry, and cross-category strategic intelligence to support key enterprise initiatives.
Partnering with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, this position ensures that Mondelez is equipped with forward-looking, externally grounded insights that shape long-term strategy and enhance our competitive position. This role plays a pivotal part in preparing executive briefings for leadership forums, Board of Directors, and Earnings communications with compelling, data-driven narratives.
Key Accountabilities:
State of the Consumer & Marketplace: Develop and deliver proactive, board-ready assessments of consumer sentiment, shifting demand, macroeconomic shifts, and marketplace dynamics that influence category growth to inform enterprise strategy and long-range planning. Board & Earnings Call Preparation: Own the development of strategic intelligence content for Board of Directors meetings, Earnings call preparation documents, and other senior executive communications, ensuring clear, compelling, and insight-driven storytelling. This role owns the strategic narrative and foresight content, while the I&A Operations team owns performance data, dashboards, and forecasting models. Cross-Category Strategic Intelligence: Provide strategic intelligence and analytical support for cross-category enterprise initiatives (e.g., mindful snacking, sustainability strategy, category-agnostic occasion-based growth initiatives), partnering with Category Strategy, Corporate Strategy, Sustainability, and BU teams to ensure insights-led decision making. Thought Leadership: Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the SVP, Global I&A and broader MLT, proactively surfacing strategic implications and "so what" narratives that connect external intelligence to Mondelez priorities. Build a strong collaborative relationship with Corporate Communications to translate insights for external deployment. Trends & Foresight Communications: Partner with the FTR foresights and trends monitoring team to synthesize emerging consumer, category, and industry trends into actionable foresight narratives that help the organization anticipate and capitalize on future growth opportunities. Build strong relationships with Category and Corporate Strategy, Innovation Excellence, and Global Brand teams to continually pressure test and update strategic initiatives to ensure future-proofed plans. Global Category Benchmarking: Lead comprehensive benchmarking of Mondelez categories versus the broader food industry, providing competitive context and strategic implications for portfolio and growth decisions. Monthly Global Performance Narrative: Oversee the executive-level narrative for OLT (Operating Leadership Team) Monthly meetings, with deeper dives quarterly during earnings release. AI-Enabled Strategic Intelligence: Partner with I&A Operations and MDS to architect and deploy AI-powered tools and infrastructure for always-on competitive monitoring, automated trend synthesis, and proactive executive alerting. Champion the adoption of AI-enabled workflows across the enterprise intelligence function.
Required Skills:
Commercial & Strategic Acumen: Combines deep knowledge of MDLZ's business model, competitive landscape, and future growth drivers to deliver insights and recommendations that are immediately actionable and commercially relevant. Executive Communication & Storytelling: Exceptional ability to distill complex, multi-source intelligence into compelling, board-ready narratives that influence senior decision-makers and drive strategic action. Digital & AI Fluency: Comfort with AI-powered intelligence tools, automation platforms, and emerging technologies that enable scalable, always-on strategic monitoring and synthesis. Cross-Functional Influence: Demonstrated ability to translate intelligence into action across Strategy, Marketing, Innovation, Finance, and Sustainability — building alignment in a highly matrixed global organization. Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to work across functions and BUs, as well as across multiple leadership levels — across, up, and down — with strong executive presence. Team Leadership: Build, develop, and inspire a high-performing strategic intelligence team, fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity, proactive thinking, and executive-ready communication. Change Management & Transformation: Ability to lead and influence organizational change, identifying opportunities to modernize intelligence workflows and enable enterprise-wide adoption of new tools and methodologies.
Reporting Structure:
Reports To: SVP, Global Insights & Analytics
Direct Reports (2): Sr. Manager, Cross-Category Strategy (SG13); Sr. Analyst, Strategic Intelligence (L11)
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required. 12+ years of progressive experience in strategic insights, competitive intelligence, consumer foresight, or strategy/consulting roles within CPG/Food & Beverage. Deep expertise in consumer and marketplace trend analysis, competitive benchmarking, and strategic storytelling. Proven ability to synthesize complex, multi-source information into clear, board-ready narratives and recommendations. Strong executive presence with experience presenting to and influencing C-suite and Board-level audiences. Proven people leadership with track record of building and developing highly motivated, empowered, and high-performing teams. Strong bias for action, with a proven track record in persuasively influencing and aligning business stakeholders in a highly matrixed organization. Experience preparing content for public company earnings communications.
Preferred Qualifications:
MBA or Master's in Strategy, Economics, Business, or related field. Experience in a global role spanning multiple regions/markets. Familiarity with intelligence platforms such as Euromonitor, GlobalData, Mintel, Nielsen, or AI-based intelligence tools. Transformative thinker with an expansive, innovative mindset, comfortable with ambiguity and thinking outside the box. Highly collaborative team player with proven track record of getting the best out of a team, regardless of location or reporting lines.
