Summary of Role:

GlobalFoundries is seeking a motivated and technically curious entry-level Facilities Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, reliability, and improvement of critical facility systems that enable semiconductor manufacturing. This position is designed for recent engineering graduates interested in developing technical expertise in industrial utility systems and manufacturing operations.

The Facilities Engineer will work closely with operations, maintenance, manufacturing, and project teams to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of facilities systems which may include ultrapure water systems, chemical distribution systems, building mechanical systems, HVAC, central utility plant equipment, wastewater treatment systems, and other manufacturing utilities.

This role provides hands-on exposure to troubleshooting, process monitoring, capital projects, system optimization, engineering analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives while developing technical and professional skills within a world-class semiconductor manufacturing environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Support the safe operation and reliability of facility utility systems and infrastructure.

• Assist with troubleshooting equipment and system performance issues using engineering fundamentals and data analysis.

• Monitor system performance, operating parameters, capacity utilization, and equipment reliability.

• Analyze process and equipment data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and potential reliability concerns.

• Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action development.

• Support continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, reliability, sustainability, and cost reduction.

• Assist in the development and execution of engineering studies, experiments, and system optimization projects.

• Partner with operations and maintenance teams to improve equipment performance and standardize work practices.

• Support equipment upgrades, capital projects, equipment installations, and commissioning activities.

• Assist with creating, updating, and maintaining engineering documentation, procedures, equipment specifications, and design drawings.

• Learn and apply reliability, process engineering, and project management principles within a manufacturing environment.

• Support development of preventive maintenance and operational strategies to improve system performance.

• Participate in system capacity planning and long-range infrastructure planning activities.

• Utilize engineering software, data systems, and visualization tools to evaluate system performance.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, facilities operations, Environmental, Health and Safety, vendors, and contractors.

• Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Other Responsibilities:

• Participate in engineering reviews, project meetings, and training activities.

• Complete technical and professional development assignments.

• Other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

• Education - Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited engineering program, including Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a similar engineering discipline.

• Experience - 0 to 2 years of engineering experience, including internships, co-op programs, research projects, or manufacturing experience.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to learn complex technical systems and processes.

• Self-motivated with a desire to develop technical expertise.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

• Ability to support continuous manufacturing operations during occasional off-hours as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Internship, co-op, laboratory, research, or manufacturing experience.

• Exposure to industrial utility systems, process equipment, HVAC, water treatment, chemical processes, or manufacturing operations.

• Experience using data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, PI, or similar software.

• Familiarity with process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.

• Basic knowledge of project management practices.

• Interest in semiconductor manufacturing and facilities engineering.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.

• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators when necessary.

• Ability to access facility equipment areas, mechanical spaces, and utility system installations.

Expected Salary Range

$58,400.00 - $100,800.00
