Description
Met-Con Inc. is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join our growing team. This position will oversee weekly payroll operations and work closely with Human Resources and Accounting to ensure accurate payroll processing, compliance, reporting, and employee support.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee weekly payroll for office and field employees.
- Review payroll for accuracy, including wages, overtime, bonuses, benefits, 401(k), garnishments, taxes, and deductions.
- Process payroll changes including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and deductions.
- Manage federal, state, and local payroll tax filings, quarterly reporting, and W-2 processing.
- Perform payroll reconciliations and work with Accounting on journal entries, general ledger activity, and month-end/year-end close.
- Process weekly employee expense reimbursements.
- Coordinate payroll-related benefit data files for health, dental, 401(k), and other programs.
- Assist with payroll audits and provide required documentation and records.
- Maintain payroll systems and identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
- Provide support to Human Resources and respond to employee payroll-related questions.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.
- Provide guidance and support to payroll staff as needed.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of progressive payroll experience.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing, payroll taxes, reconciliations, and compliance.
- Experience with weekly payroll; multi-state payroll experience preferred.
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, UKG, Paycom, Paylocity, isolved, or similar.
- Knowledge of payroll accounting and general ledger reconciliation.
- Strong Excel, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, or a field-based workforce is a plus.
