Position Summary

Works closely with the CFO and Senior Director of Finance regarding the financial affairs of the organization.  Oversees payroll, accounts payable, audit, budget, royalties and management reporting functions.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain books and ledger of the Institute ensuring entries are in alignment with GAAP

  • Produce and analyze monthly management reporting documents for the Institute

  • Key point person on annual financial audit including producing required financial statements and analytical documents

  • Preparation of two sets of 990 filings for the Institute

  • Oversee Payroll functions with Payroll Administrators and Human Resources Director, including timely payroll submissions, funding of the 403b plan, timesheet reporting and assisting with annual pension audit

  • Manage the quarterly Forecasting and Budgeting for the Institute utilizing Bi360 software

  • Handle all incoming royalties reported to the Institute; translate data into standardized format in Excel and upload into internal Access databases. Prepare the major outgoing royalty calculations and reports

  • Responsibility for internal bank transfers and on occasion, payment approvals within the banking portal

  • Perform special projects with CFO and Senior Director of Finance as assigned

  • Key Finance department point person on new software rollouts as they happen

  • Run slides and presentations for audit and finance committee meetings

  • Staff development including the training, progression and reorganization of department staff and workflows as needed

Information Security Responsibilities

  • Attend/complete assigned information security training by the designated completion date.

  • Read and adhere to published ISMS policies and procedures.

  • Report timely any observed violations of ISMS policy - or known encroachments on information security - to your department leader and/or the Information Technology Department.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Master’s degree preferred

  • 10-12 years’ experience in all aspects of accounting

Other Qualifications

  • High level of proficiency in Excel, Word, Access & PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of Bi360, Concur and Great Plain software a plus

  • Ability to creatively look at current processes to develop efficiencies throughout the department

  • Problem solving and analytical skills required

  • Proven supervisory experience

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Exceptional time management abilities

Starting compensation will be in the $150,000 to $175,000 range, depending on education, experience, and other qualifications.
