Job Description
Obtains and processes signed physician orders/referrals to ensure accurate clinical documentation for care delivery, specialty and outpatient ancillary referrals. In addition, the referral coordinator will conduct online insurance eligibility/benefit verification, obtain pre-certification/authorization, referral clearance and financial education on designated cases. As appropriate; notifies patient/guarantor, specialist, referring provider, etc., with pertinent information, inclusive of, but not limited to clinical documentation, referral status, follow-up, etc.Additional Job Description
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED); college degree preferred. Experience: Two years of experience in a medical office, call center, patient access area, or customer service in a business environment is required. A college degree may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced call center environment. Working knowledge of computers and technology including Windows, Excel, and Internet/Intranet navigation tools required. Strong verbal, written, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a self-directed manner while interacting with patients, physicians, and departmental partners. Additional Requirements: Typing speed of 35 CWPM required.
