Humana is seeking a strategic, relationship-focused leader to serve as Director, Strategy Advancement – External Partnerships. This role is responsible for developing, managing, and advancing high-impact partnerships that support Humana's mission of putting health first and delivering exceptional experiences for members, providers, agents, and business partners.This leader will work directly with senior executives at key national partners and across Humana to strengthen current performance, identify new sources of mutual value, and translate strategic opportunities into executable growth plans. The Director will serve as a trusted strategic partner, developing a deep understanding of Humana’s objectives and each partner’s priorities, and then driving cross-functional decisions that advance high-impact opportunities.
The ideal candidate is an experienced strategic leader who excels at relationship management, business development, executive influence, and translating complex business opportunities into scalable partnership solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Partnership Development
- Identify, evaluate, and develop strategic partnership opportunities that support organizational growth and enterprise priorities.
- Create partnership strategies that drive value for members, providers, and business stakeholders.
- Assess market trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities to inform partnership initiatives.
- Build business cases and strategic recommendations for senior leadership review.
Partnership Management
- Serve as the primary executive relationship owner for key external partners.
- Establish success metrics and measurable outcomes for partnerships, ensuring appropriate alignment between partner objectives and Humana's strategic goals.
- Lead partnership performance reviews focused on driving continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiencies.
- Analyze financial, operational, and customer-impact data to support strategic decisions.
- Develop recommendations for expanding and deepening relationships to create incremental value.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with business leaders across the organization to implement and optimize partnership programs.
- Coordinate resources across multiple teams to support partnership initiatives.
- Facilitate executive-level discussions and decision-making processes.
- Lead complex projects spanning multiple business functions and external organizations.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of strategy professionals, fostering strong analytical, strategic, and executive communication capabilities.
Executive Influence
- Develop presentations, reports, and recommendations for senior and executive leadership.
- Provide strategic guidance regarding partnership risks, opportunities, and investment priorities.
- Represent Humana in external meetings, industry events, and strategic discussions

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
8+ years of experience in strategy, management consulting, business development, partnership management, healthcare operations, or related fields.
5+ years of leadership experience leading strategic initiatives, programs, or teams.
Experience developing and managing external partnerships or enterprise-level business relationships.
Strong critical thinking and business acumen.
Demonstrated success influencing stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Strong analytical and financial evaluation skills.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, or related discipline).
- Experience within healthcare, health insurance, managed care, Medicare, Medicaid, or related industries.
- Experience managing or advising complex, multi-year relationships between large enterprises.
- Knowledge of value-based care and healthcare ecosystem partnerships.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting.
