Job Description
Peterson Cat has a need for a Rental Field Technician at our Medford, OR location.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. - Travel safely to and from customer sites to maintain, diagnose, and repair a variety of light and heavy rental construction equipment and tools to ensure they are Rental Ready and safe to operate.
- Perform pick up and delivery of equipment and parts to and from outside vendors and other Cresco locations for purchase and/or repair.
- Maintain field truck parts inventory to ensure efficiency of field services.
- Conduct damage assessments, complete reports of equipment damage, and record hours used, mileage, and fuel levels.
- Perform safety and compliance inspections of equipment and company vehicles per manufacturer, company, ANSI, OSHA, or other regulation standards.
- Perform timely equipment check-ins/outs.
- Load and unload equipment and attachments.
- Coordinate parts needs, complete parts orders, and assist with maintaining parts inventory.
- Follow manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work.
- Greet internal and external customers and assist with their inquiries.
- Keep field truck and work area clean throughout day to ensure and maintain safe work environment.
- Demonstrate equipment operation to customers.
- Operate company vehicle frequently to perform essential job functions.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, rules, and laws as well as Peterson Operational Procedures and quality control (QC) Standards
- Assist with washing and cleaning equipment and moving equipment around rental yard.
- Assist with moving equipment around rental yard, answering customer questions, explaining/demonstrating equipment operation to customers, and loading / unloading equipment.
- Observe safety policies, procedures, rules, and laws.
- Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship and demonstrates Peterson’s core values.
- Participate in Peterson’s safety programs, tailgate meetings, and monthly safety meetings.
- Work overtime as needed and within labor law guidelines.
- Operate company or personal vehicle as needed
- Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
- Attend scheduled training classes, department, and safety meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associates Degree from a fully accredited college or technical/vocational school in Diesel Technology or other closely related field; and a minimum of 3 years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Customer service experience required.
- Experience driving a service truck highly preferred.
- Previous mechanical service experience in the heavy equipment, construction, and/or related industry preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
- Ability to obtain CDL-B and DOT medical card
- Ability to obtain lift truck certificate
