Takaful Portfolio Manager
Are you an experienced insurance professional with a passion for portfolio growth, broker relationship management, and business development?
Our client, a leading commercial insurance specialist, is seeking a Takaful Portfolio Manager to manage and grow a portfolio of brokers while driving profitable business growth within its specialist insurance division.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded insurance professional who enjoys building strong broker relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and delivering sustainable portfolio performance in a highly collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic business plan for your allocated broker portfolio.
- Drive portfolio growth through new business acquisition and the expansion of existing broker relationships.
- Manage and grow broker and binder portfolios to achieve Gross Written Contribution (GWC), profitability, retention, and growth targets.
- Build long-term relationships with brokers through regular engagement and value-added service.
- Analyse portfolio performance, market trends, and broker opportunities to improve business outcomes.
- Deliver exceptional broker service while providing tailored insurance solutions.
- Ensure underwriting decisions align with delegated authority, governance requirements, and underwriting guidelines.
- Monitor portfolio profitability and implement corrective actions to achieve targeted loss ratios.
- Ensure compliance with underwriting standards, operational procedures, governance controls, and Takaful principles.
- Collaborate with underwriting, claims, operations, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives that strengthen market presence and portfolio performance.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- RE5 qualification is essential.
- RE1 will be advantageous.
- Insurance or technical qualification will be advantageous.
- Formal Business qualification will be advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years' experience within the insurance industry across Commercial and Personal Lines.
- Proven business development and/or portfolio management experience.
- Experience working with insurance brokerages will be highly advantageous.
- Valid driver's licence and own reliable vehicle.
- Willingness to travel as required.
Highly Advantageous
- Strong understanding of the South African insurance market.
- Sound knowledge of underwriting principles and portfolio management.
- Knowledge of insurance legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience managing profitable broker portfolios.
- Strong commercial and business development capability.
