SIM-UoB is seeking an experienced and highly motivated associate lecturer to teach the Business Law module in the BSc (Hons) Accounting & Finance, awarded by University of Birmingham (UoB), UK. The successful candidate must be able to handle a sizeable class. He/she will be responsible for the followings:
Plan and deliver engaging lectures and tutorials.
Develop and prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and learning resources.
Set and mark assessments in accordance with programme requirements.
Provide timely, constructive, and meaningful feedback to students.
To provide the moderation and marking report to UoB within the required timeline.
Offer academic guidance and support to students when required.
This module aims to provide students with a basic understanding and knowledge of corporate and business law with reference to Singapore. This module will cover the following component areas:
- Legal system in Singapore & methods of dispute resolution
- Key elements of contract law
- Basics of tort law and professional negligence
- Basic knowledge of employment law and methods of dispute resolution
- Principles of intellectual property law
- Key principles of company law and corporate governance.
With respect to contract law and tort law, the goal is to show how these areas of law bind parties to perform their agreements. The goal of the company law component is to show how company law facilitates business transactions through the formation, constitution, management and financing of companies. With respect to corporate governance, the goal is to demonstrate how disciplines as varied as law, management, accounting and ethics are brought together to focus on how companies are governed. Employment law and intellectual property law are regarded as important adjuncts and instruments of the legal framework of contemporary business activity.
Job Requirement
A Master's or Bachelor degree, LLM, LLB or other relevant qualification from a reputable university
At least 5 years of Industry, legal practice experience or relevant work experience.
At least 2 years of experience teaching Business Law, Commercial Law, or related modules at tertiary level.
Previous experience developing assessments, marking schemes, and learning materials would be a plus.
Familiar with learning management systems and online learning tools such as Canvas, Padlet.
Experience working or teaching in a multicultural or diverse environment is highly preferred.
