Job Title: Senior Service Representative
MANDATE
The Senior Service Representative provides specialized operational support to Global Trade Finance Operations management while delivering a high standard of service to customers across North America and the UK.
This role requires experience in Trade Finance Operations, a strong background in processing Import and Export Letters of Credit, and proficiency in the use of Trade processing systems (Trade360).
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Ensure all Letter of Credit transactions are processed in accordance with applicable international rules and regulations, including UCP 600, URR 725, ISP 98, URDG 758, and URC 522, with particular attention to compliance, documentary risk, and settlement risk. Key responsibilities include:
- Process the issuance of Import Letters of Credit, document examinations, payments, discounts, and financing transactions within the Bank’s approved limits.
- Ensure established service level agreements are consistently met while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Identify, assess, and manage risks related to trade finance transactions.
- Review transactions carefully to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and Bank procedures.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of customer and Bank information in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Follow security and safeguarding procedures and apply appropriate due diligence to help prevent losses arising from fraud, defalcation, or other operational risks.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge and awareness of trade finance products, rules, and operational requirements.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal business partners through regular interaction and collaboration.
- Partner with other operational areas to support timely, accurate, and efficient processing activities.
- Use processing systems efficiently and effectively to support daily operational requirements.
- Support multiple products and timelines while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Investigate and resolve internal business partner and external customer inquiries, including more complex or non-routine matters, and escalate or recommend solutions to senior team members when appropriate.
- Assist with accounting activities, general ledger entries, reconciliations, and related investigations as required.
- Provide input and analysis to support continuous improvement of business processes and procedures within the team’s scope of work.
- Participate in the planning, testing, and implementation of projects, new or revised products, services, and process changes as required.
- Bilingualism in French and English is considered an asset.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
1. Three to five years of related experience.
2. University degree is considered an asset.
3. Thorough knowledge of the uniform rules and international standards governing Letters of Credit.
4. Strong accuracy in alphanumeric data entry, supported by excellent organizational skills.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
8. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
9. Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
10. Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities as required.
11. CDCS designation is preferred.
12. Thorough knowledge and understanding of UCP 600, URR 725, ISBP 745, ISP 98, URDG 758, and other relevant ICC rules and publications governing Letters of Credit.
13. Strong risk management and compliance skills.
14. Proven ability to independently manage initiatives and ad hoc assignments.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Flexibility to work on statutory holidays and across different time zones may be required based on business needs.
Please note: This is an onsite position, and the selected candidate will be required to work five days per week at the designated location.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
