This role will drive our procurement operations by conducting complex data analysis, generating actionable insights, and independently managing critical vendor relationships. This is a senior-level individual contributor role designed for an experienced professional capable of independent contract negotiation, end-to-end administration of requests for proposal, and driving category strategy. While the role will heavily focus on medical supplies and distribution, strong generalist sourcing skills and the ability to quickly master new categories are essential. If you are a proactive problem solver with advanced analytical skills, a proven track record in procurement, and a passion for leading cross-functional initiatives, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Sourcing Events: Independently lead and execute end-to-end Request for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Quotes (RFQs), and Invitations to Bid (ITBs) in close collaboration with internal business partners.
- Contract Negotiation: Review, redline, and negotiate complex contracts for products and services, particularly within the medical supplies and distribution category, ensuring risk mitigation and favorable commercial terms.
- Procurement Execution: Oversee the delivery of all relevant contract documentation, including pricing and key terms, to the procurement systems team to enable seamless purchasing.
- Process & Documentation Management: Ensure comprehensive documentation and optimization of all procedures, including final commercial terms, supplier quotes, contact information, and RFP/RFI documentation.
- Strategic Partnership: Partner strategically with Category Managers to drive complex data gathering, lead stakeholder discussions, and execute category strategies.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Drive supplier performance evaluation initiatives, design evaluation frameworks, and lead supplier business reviews to ensure SLAs and KPIs are met.
- Market Intelligence: Conduct deep-dive market research on suppliers and evolving technologies, providing strategic, data-backed recommendations to leadership and internal customers.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as a subject matter expert and mentor to junior analysts. Step in to perform Category Manager roles as needed to support the Procurement team, serving as a pipeline for leadership roles.
Skills
- Stakeholder Management: Excellent customer service and influence skills when partnering with teammates at all levels of the organization, including executive leadership.
- Communication: Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to confidently lead RFP-related meetings, cross-functional strategy sessions, and supplier negotiations.
- Analytical Decision Making: Proven ability to manage the selection and evaluation of preferred suppliers. This includes documenting the selection process, critically evaluating bids, and making strategic recommendations presented clearly to leadership with robust supporting documentation.
- Continuous Improvement: Demonstrates a strong desire to continually learn, evolve, and mentor others on the team.
- Agility & Innovation: Highly adaptable and flexible to market changes, bringing an innovation mindset to assigned categories by leveraging strong relationships with internal customers and suppliers.
- Prioritization: Ability to successfully navigate shifting priorities in spend strategies, product demands, and sourcing/purchasing timelines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; business or STEM degree highly preferred. Ideal coursework or background includes strategy, finance, supply chain operations, or consulting.
- Experience: 3–5+ years of relevant business experience, with a proven track record in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management.
- Industry Knowledge: Direct experience in medical equipment or medical supplies sourcing is highly preferred.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills with the demonstrated ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. Experience presenting data-driven insights to leadership groups.
- Procurement Systems: Hands-on experience with Coupa, Ariba, or other leading eSourcing and procure-to-pay platforms is highly preferred.
