Institutional/Crisis Health Registered Nurse I:
$38.95 - $47.35 Hourly

Institutional Licensed Crisis Health Worker II:
$43.00 - $52.26 Hourly

About the Position: Under general supervision, performs a variety of professional nursing and client/inmate care services to support the functions and operations of the adult correctional facility or field services programs such as the Mobile Crisis Response Unit.
- Provides professional nursing services in a secured adult correctional facility and the Mobile Crisis Response Unit.
- Participates in treatment teams to discuss client/inmate progress and develop coordinated care plans.
- May provide on-scene crisis intervention and referrals when community members are undergoing a mental health crisis.
- Provides consultation and related services to treatment teams, other Agency divisions, other agencies/organizations, including participation on special teams and developing strategies.

- Experience working in a 24-hour psychiatric or adult correctional facility is desirable.
- Institutional/Crisis Health Registered Nurse I - Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate’s degree in Nursing.
- Institutional/Crisis Health Registered Nurse II - Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited college with an Associate’s degree in Nursing and a Bachelor’s degree in a health related field. Two (2) years of registered nursing experience must accompany a Bachelor’s degree in a health related field, other than nursing.
License & Special Requirements:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
- Requires a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of California.
- Requires CPR certification.
- Must complete periodic continuing education coursework as required to maintain active licensure.
- Must possess, or be willing to obtain, national provider identifier (NPI).
- Must successfully complete an extensive and thorough law enforcement background investigation.
In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for an Institutional/Crisis Health Registered Nurse I/II (Extra Help), as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list.
Testing Dates: September 4-7, 2026. Testing will be provided via email.
Tentative Interview Date(s):
1st- Monday. September 14, 2026 from 9:00am to 11:30am.
2nd- Monday, September 21, 2026 from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
*Only the most qualified candidates will be invited to interview.
New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
