What You Will Do
- Prepare civil construction plans for commercial, residential, institutional, municipal, and infrastructure projects.
- Develop site layouts, grading plans, utility plans, stormwater and drainage designs, erosion-control plans, and construction details.
- Create surfaces, alignments, profiles, pipe networks, corridors, and plan-production sheets using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Coordinate design information with engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, utility providers, and other project disciplines.
- Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and compliance with project standards.
- Support quantity calculations, technical exhibits, permitting packages, and project documentation.
- Identify design conflicts and recommend practical solutions before plans are issued.
- Maintain CAD standards, file organization, templates, and quality-control procedures.
- Manage multiple assignments and meet established project schedules.
- Mentor junior designers and provide guidance on Civil 3D workflows and plan production.
What you bring:
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in civil engineering technology, drafting, or a related field.
- At least eight years of civil CAD design experience, with significant experience in land development or site design.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Strong knowledge of grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, erosion control, and site-plan production.
- Ability to interpret surveys, engineering calculations, design criteria, and agency requirements.
- Experience producing coordinated permit and construction documents.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to organize work across several projects.
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with engineers, clients, and project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting projects through permitting and construction.
- Familiarity with local and state land-development regulations and design standards.
- Experience training or mentoring CAD designers.
- Knowledge of additional design, document-management, or visualization software.
