Senior Pathology Coordinator
Albyn Hospital 
37.5 Hours & Permanent
Salary: Up to £27,500.00 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

We have an opportunity for a Senior Pathology Coordinator to join their team of staff.

This is a full- time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern. 

 

Duties of this role include:  

  • Lead the coordination of pathology services, ensuring timely and accurate handling of diagnostic samples. 

  • Supervise and support junior pathology coordinators and phlebotomy support staff, ensuring service continuity and staff coverage. 

  • Act as the primary point of contact for complex queries or service issues, ensuring prompt resolution and escalation where needed. 

  • Ensure adherence to national and organisational protocols for specimen labelling, handling, packaging, and transport. 

  • Monitor compliance with infection prevention, health and safety, and data protection policies across the pathology service. 

  • Support audits, incident reviews, and implementation of action plans related to pathology performance and governance. 

 

Applicants should meet the following criteria:  

  • Experience working in a pathology coordination, laboratory, or diagnostics support role. 

  • Strong understanding of specimen handling protocols and laboratory processes. 

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills. 

  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare environment. 

  • Proficient in using pathology and clinical IT systems.
