Team Leader - Control

Reporting directly to: Lighting Manager / Operations Manager

 

Main purpose of the role:

To lead a team of technicians in the preparation and maintence of equipment within the department, ensuring an adequate standard is maintained with the delivery of projects in this sector.

This will include QC checks on items provided, strong warehouse organizational skills and working within the deadlines set.

Qualifications

Required Competencies

 

• Previous experience in Control Systems within a live events environment is preferable.
• Experience with a range of lighting control desk platforms, especially GrandMa, HOG and Automation Control (MoveKet)
• Strong understanding of signal flow, system configuration and networking.
• Previous experience of supervising a team within a warehouse environment.
• Conscientious, methodical and with a good eye for detail.
• Basic understanding of the LEAN process would be an advantage.
• A good understanding of computer software engineering bias would be an advantage.
• An understanding of embedded microprocessor/computer control systems.
• An understanding of electrical theory.
• Knowledge of Fibre & Ethernet network systems.
• IP addressing.
• Good understanding of the Company’s product range and procedures.

Responsibilities

 Key Responsibilities

 Summary of Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

 

• Motivate and lead department staff, build a strong efficient workforce.
• Plan daily schedules for staffing and set workload targets for preparation of equipment and warehouse duties. Ensure deadlines are met.
• Assist in the day-to-day development of employees within the department and ensure a reasonable pace and output is maintained.
• Flag issues relating to shortages of equipment / consumables for forthcoming jobs liaising with Assets and Project Management teams as appropriate.
• Undertake quality control checks on prepped equipment.
• Inform the HOD of any shortages of equipment / consumables for forthcoming jobs.
• Co-ordinate and fulfill order requirements on the Company’s rental software system in an accurate and timely manner, whilst updating service records and booking damaged equipment into repair as required
• Check that all control equipment has the requested software functions and settings with every dispatch, providing manuals where required.
• Undertake network set-ups and practices.
• Be proactive in writing and risk assessments.
• Be proactive in improving and updating / amending process documents.
• Ensure the department is always manned appropriately.

• Develop, train and encourage other team members whilst identifying and targeting specific training needs for each team member.
• Fault finding and servicing of electronic and electrical systems. Prepare and carry out portable appliance testing of equipment in line with the Company’s standards and procedures.
• Plan routine maintenance and repair of equipment, ensuring all stock is regularly serviced/repaired and documented.
• Ensure the department operates within the current Health and Safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment, reporting any Health and Safety to the Operations Manager.
• Ensure all H&S Incidents and Injuries are reported
• Co-operate with other departments as a collective unit.
• Attend and participate in regular meetings and contribute with information, ideas and actions
• Be responsive and accommodating to internal and external enquiries or issues.
• Address any staff performance issues in line with the Company's procedures.
• Ensure the Company’s quality standards are maintained at all times.
• Ensure the confidentiality of information relating to the company and its clients, projects and personal staff information.
• Ensure that the Company’s policies, rules, procedures and obligations are observed in carrying out the above duties.
