Faculty - Rank Open; Nursing

The University of North Alabama’s Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions (ACONHP) is seeking a qualified full-time tenure-track faculty member at the rank of assistant professor for the nursing program. Candidates who qualify for a non-tenure-track appointment at the rank of lecturer will also be considered. Salary and rank will be based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. The ACONHP is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education [One DuPont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, DC 20036, (202) 463-6930] and approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing.  Application review will begin immediately and continue until the position has been filled.  Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Essential job duties include teaching 12-15 credit hours of undergraduate coursework per semester; providing clinical supervision of students; recruiting and advising students; engaging in scholarly activities and professional service; engaging in service to the department, college, and university; participating in curriculum and course development activities within the department and college; maintaining office hours in accordance with university policy; and performing all other duties as assigned. 

Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution is required; doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited institution is preferred; family nurse practitioner or psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner certification is preferred; five years of clinical practice is required; three years of classroom or clinical teaching experience in an accredited registered nursing program or higher degree nursing program is preferred; an unrestricted nursing license for the State of Alabama or the ability to obtain such is required; online teaching experience and/or a willingness to teach online courses is preferred; and the ability to teach within the instructional areas of medical/surgical nursing, critical care, nutrition, and other undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses is required.

If any of your graduate hours in the relevant teaching discipline are taken from a degree(s) that is not your highest attained, an official transcript of that degree(s) must also be submitted. Official transcripts must be sent directly to HR from the issuing school via email or postal mail to be considered official. Transcripts with a designation of “Issued to Student”, or with the student name listed as the recipient will not be considered official. Official transcripts will be required of the successful candidate prior to the start date of the appointment, but unofficial copies will be accepted for the application process.
