We are seeking a talented individual to join our Marsh McLennan Agency’s Retirement Practice at Marsh. This role will be based in Urbandale and offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring a minimum of six days per month in the office.
As an Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization’s financial operations while supporting the month-end close, reporting, and regulatory compliance processes. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll help drive operational excellence through financial analysis, process improvements, and adherence to industry regulations. As MMA Retirement continues to expand through both acquisitions and strong organic growth – including an impressive 18% organic growth in 2026 – you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to special projects, support business growth initiatives, and make a meaningful impact in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

We will count on you to:
- Execute the month-end closing process, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and supporting documentation for all income statement and balance sheet accounts
- Process new client setups and other requests in the MMAS Operations mailbox for MMA Securities LLC (MMAS) and MMA Asset Management (MAM)
- Submit settlement of IOs for approval and Treasury processing; after obtaining Series 27 registration, serve as a Treasury wire releaser
- Record allocations and intercompany activities, including personnel cost and overhead allocations
- Respond to audit requests from FINRA, SEC, D&T, AML, Internal, and other stakeholders as needed
- Convert new acquisitions onto the MMAS platform
- Prepare detailed month-end management reports and variance analysis
- Collaborate with the Financial and Operations Principal and Accounting Manager to develop efficient accounting and operational policies and procedures that ensure compliance with FINRA/SEC regulations, with an emphasis on SOX controls and operational excellence
- Assist the Financial and Operations Principal and Accounting Manager with special projects and new initiatives
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of experience in accounting with working knowledgeable of US GAAP
- Series 27 license required within 9 months of hire date, if not already obtained
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to work with colleagues at all levels; this role interfaces with senior management, Retirement Practice business leaders, advisors/registered representatives, carrier and mutual fund company representatives, back-office personnel (Finance, Compliance, Legal, Treasury), and internal/external auditors
- Persistence in the face of resistance or obstacles, with strong convictions
- High organization and attention to detail, as accuracy is essential in our “to the penny” and highly regulated environment
- Resourceful, takes initiative, and critical thinking skills to solve problems
- Proficiency in Excel and working knowledge in MS Office
