Job Summary
Responsible for demonstrating and/or teaching technical aspects of operating the simulators and related equipment to center staff, faculty members, and others when appropriate. Responsible for assisting program development, performance management, knowledge management, and practice management with fellow RN educators from various departments and collaboratively with other PH employees. Demonstrates experience and expertise in various areas of clinical nursing and implements the role based on the needs of the patient, the nursing staff and the health care delivery system. Works with education and Simulation Center leadership to improve the delivery of patient care through the education functions. Minimum of 10% of work time on the off shifts rounding or educating at the point of care (Off shift is defined as after 5p.m. on the weekdays or anytime on the weekend).All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Designs, develops, implements and evaluates scenarios and educational material in collaboration with faculty, simulation center staff, and other users of the simulation center.
Acts as liaison between Sim Center & Nursing Education, coordinating program development & performance management, establishing standards of care with emphasis on clinical simulation.
Assists faculty and other Simulation Center staff in the operational aspects of simulation.
Assists with special projects or initiatives as required.
Provides faculty instructors with instructional tools and technical or administrative support to carry out simulation sessions. This includes setting up the simulator, the rooms, and appropriate audio-video components for each session, and preparing educational material for the activity as directed.
Understands the use and operation of different simulator technologies ranging from partial task trainers to high fidelity patient simulators to virtual reality simulators.
Performs and synthesizes literature searches, analyze and summarize relevant material, and maintains reference library of simulation articles.
Participates in technical training as necessary; attends conferences to stay current with simulation technologies and education modalities.
Generates innovative approaches for technology improvement and integration into healthcare education.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing program that is approved by the State Board of Nursing
Experience - One (1) year of clinical nursing experience. Three (3) years of experience preferred. Previous education and simulation experience preferred.
