Position Summary:
The Director, Product Development & Supply (PDS) Business Development, will report to the ED, PDS Business Development and lead complex business development, diligence, integration, divestiture, and selected alliance management activities across PDS. The Director will serve as a key interface between PDS functions and Corporate Business Development, Global Alliances, Legal, Finance, and other enterprise partners. The role is responsible for translating PDS scientific, technical, quality, manufacturing, and supply considerations into clear transaction strategies, risk assessments, contractual positions, and executable transition plans.
The Director will independently lead assigned transactions and alliances, coordinate matrixed teams of functional subject matter experts, and provide recommendations to senior PDS leadership. The role will also contribute to the continued development of scalable PDS business development processes, tools, governance, and organizational capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Transaction & Diligence Leadership
- Lead PDS activities for assigned acquisitions, in-licensing opportunities, integrations, divestitures, out-licensing transactions, and strategic alliances.
- Serve as the primary PDS representative on cross-functional deal teams and coordinate cross-functional subject matter experts for assigned transactions.
- Lead technical, CMC, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, supply-chain, and operational assessments in collaboration with PDS subject matter experts.
- Integrate complex functional findings into clear risk assessments, recommendations, mitigation plans, and decision materials for senior leadership.
- Ensure PDS risks, assumptions, dependencies, and value opportunities are appropriately reflected in transaction recommendations and decision-making.
- Partner with Corporate Business Development, Legal, Finance, Global Alliances, and PDS functions to develop PDS-related transaction positions and requirements.
- Lead or support the development and negotiation of PDS-related contractual provisions, including supply, quality, technical transfer, transition services, manufacturing, and governance terms.
Integration and Divestiture Execution
- Lead assigned PDS integration, separation, and transition workstreams from planning through execution and stabilization.
- Coordinate cross-functional activities, timelines, risks, and deliverables to ensure successful transaction implementation.
- Partner with enterprise integration or divestiture teams to ensure PDS deliverables are aligned with transaction close requirements and post-close commitments.
Alliance Management
- Track, manage, and optimize selected BMS alliances that have a significant supply, analytical, quality, or CMC component, ensuring contractual commitments are met and strategic value is maximized
- Serve as relationship steward for key external partners, facilitating governance cadences, resolving escalations, and aligning on milestones and deliverables in coordination with the enterprise Global Alliances team
Operational Excellence & Capability Building
- Support evolution of PDS business development processes, governance, playbooks, and training materials.
- Drive continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and capability building across diligence, integration, divestiture, and alliance management activities.
- Support onboarding, training, and capability development for PDS colleagues participating in transactions and alliances.
- Promote consistent risk management, documentation, reporting, and performance measurements across the PDS BD portfolio.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, natural sciences, pharmacy, supply chain, business, or a related field required.
- Advanced scientific, technical, or business degree preferred, including an MS, MBA, PharmD, or PhD.
Experience:
- 12+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, manufacturing, product-development, supply chain, quality, or related functions with meaningful exposure to business development, M&A, or alliance management.
- Demonstrated track record of leading strategy and operations within a pharmaceutical or life sciences environment.
- Capability to build alignment with peers and more senior partners, effect change and deliver on commitments; ability to work in a global matrix environment and build strong relationships by being transparent, reliable, and delivering on commitments
- Experience managing partnerships/ third parties of varying complexities with demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and exercise diplomacy.
- Demonstrated track record of negotiating and interpreting contracts, especially as it relates to commercial manufacturing and supply.
- Broad understanding of pharmaceutical development, CMC, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and supply-chain considerations.
- Experience translating complex scientific and operational information into business recommendations and executive-level communications.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast moving and increasingly complex environment with limited direction.

Compensation Overview:
The starting pay range(s) listed above is for full-time employees (FTE). You may also be eligible for additional discretionary incentive cash and stock opportunities. We determine starting pay thoughtfully – carefully considering the nature of the role, required skills, work location, schedule and the knowledge and experience you bring. Final compensation is guided by pay equity principles and applicable employment laws. Compensation programs are reviewed on an ongoing basis and may be adjusted over time to reflect evolving market factors, and individual, team or Company performance.

U.S.-based exempt employees are eligible for Flexible Time Off (FTO), which provides paid time off without a set accrual limit, subject to manager approval, along with 11 paid company holidays each year.
