Job Description Summary
GE Vernova is seeking a Project Cluster Leader to lead the execution of Hydro projects across Pakistan and Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam) as well as the close out of the Steam New Build backlog in APAC. The role is accountable for project delivery, financial performance and customer satisfaction with Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC) serving as the central operating principle for all decisions and actions.The Leader contributes to the operating plans and is accountable for delivery of the financial results and KPIs of the projects managed within the Cluster. The leader directly manages the Project Managers and Directors in the cluster (in terms of priorities, performance, and development). Externally, the Leader manages the relationship with customers, partners and key stakeholders as the first level of escalation.
This role requires strong operational judgment, commercial discipline and the ability to lead through matrix organizations. The leader will embed SQDC into the daily operating rhythm, ensuring that Safety is non-negotiable, Quality is built into execution, Delivery commitments are actively managed, and Cost performance is controlled without compromising safety or customer outcomes.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of Hydro projects in Pakistan and Southeast Asia and the Steam New Build APAC backlog, ensuring delivery of customer commitments through disciplined application of SQDC principles.
- Lead intervention and recovery of projects where performance deviates materially from plan, ensuring clear recovery actions, ownership, milestones and escalation.
- Use SQDC as the primary framework for portfolio governance, project reviews, escalation management, decision-making and performance improvement across Hydro and Steam execution.
- Own project financial and operational performance including Cash Flow, margin protection, cost control and delivery of key operational KPIs.
- Provide leadership to Project Managers, Project Directors and project resources, setting priorities, developing talent, enabling collaboration and holding teams accountable for execution outcomes.
- Maintain strong customer and EPC partner relationships and act as the first senior escalation point for the assigned portfolio, including commercial, contractual, technical and execution-related matters.
- Identify, assess and mitigate project risks in partnership with Contract Management, Commercial, Finance, Engineering, Sourcing, EHS, Quality and Construction teams.
- Drive a strong safety and compliance culture across all project activities, ensuring concerns are raised early, lessons learned are applied and corrective actions are executed with discipline.
- Manage the Steam APAC backlog with a clear close-out mindset, ensuring customer obligations, warranty items, claims, cash collection and remaining project risks are actively controlled.
- Promote Lean thinking and continuous improvement, using SQDC performance gaps, best practices, lessons learned and standard work to improve project outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in relevant discipline
- 15+ years of experience in project management, project execution, operations, or similar leadership roles in an international environment
- Significant experience in EPC, energy, power generation, or complex infrastructure project execution
- Experience leading multi-project portfolios across diverse geographies, customers and contractual environments
- Proven ability to manage complex EPC partner relationships across contractual, commercial and project execution interfaces.
- Strong commercial, contractual and financial acumen, including P&L ownership, cash flow management, claims exposure and margin protection
- Strong SQDC mindset, with a non-negotiable focus on Safety, disciplined execution of Quality, active Delivery management and robust Cost control
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to manage senior-level escalations and maintain strong regional relationships
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally across the assigned region as required
- Proven leadership experience in a matrix environment with the ability to empower teams, drive accountability and make balanced decisions under pressure
Desired Characteristics
- Professional experience in Hydro, Steam, Power Generation or Services will be highly regarded
- Experience working with Chinese EPC partners and/or Chinese language capability would be a plus.
- Experience managing backlog close-out, warranty obligations, cash collection, contract claims and customer negotiations
