Sentara RMH Medical Center is hiring an Obstetrics and Gynecology Technologist to join our LDRP team in The Family Birth Center in Harrisonburg, VA!
Schedules available:
First Shift: 3am - 3pm. 24 hours per week, 2 twelve-hour shifts. Every 3rd weekend rotation.
Second Shift: 3pm-3am. 24 hours per week, 2 twelve-hour shifts. Every 3rd weekend rotation.
Call Requirement: Self-scheduled 24 hours in 6 weeks. Must be within 30 minutes of the facility for on call requirements. On call rooms available.
For candidates with Operating room experience, the department will train for OB. Training can take between 8 and 12 weeks.
About the LDRP:
Sentara RMH Medical Centers Family Birthplace includes 10 private bed L&D, and a 20 bed post-partum mother/baby. Our Level 2 newborn specialty care nursery has a 1 to 1 ratio while our intermediate care babies have a 1 to 3 nursing ratio. Our LDRP unit also offers post operative care for complex GYN and Breast surgical needs. This specialty area has a 100-member team cross trained to offer best in class healthcare to Harrisonburg, VA, and surrounding areas. The schedule is primarily 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends and holiday requirements. OB Tech: Under the guidance and direction of a Registered Nurse, responsible for assisting in the nursing care and surgical services in the maternity services area including the provision of patient care necessary for comfort, hygiene, data collection, and documentation. Activities are based on accepted standards of operating room and obstetrical practice and are performed within the scope of education, training, and experience.
Will assist in newborn testing, function as surgical technician during operating room procedure, newborn procedure and post labor surgical repairs
Education
Trade School Graduate of Surgical Technology or/ Licensed Practical nurse program.
Certification/Licensure
Certified Surgical Technologist preferred OR Licensed Practical Nurse
BLS within 90 days of hire
Experience
1 year of experience as an LPN or Surgical Tech required
1 year of Operating Room experience preferred
Labor and Delivery experience preferred
Strong understanding of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient safety protocols.
Certified Surgical Tech preferred
