The Director Accounting Operations of Banner Plans and Networks will be over Medicare Advantage Plans, Capital Assets, and Home Care and will oversee a team of 5 Accountants and Senior Accountants. Will be responsible for regulatory reporting, audits, and monthly maintenance.

This position is responsible for supervising the day-to-day financial accounting and reporting functions for a significant business segment. This position is responsible for timely and accurate general ledger closing, reporting, and reconciliation for all assigned business-lines and for maintaining close working relationships with business-line finance staff.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Hires, trains, conducts performance evaluations, and directs the workflow for the staff. This position is also accountable for participating in the development and implementation of goals and objectives. Ensures all goals and objectives are met timely and effectively.
2. Responsible for timely and accurate general ledger closing and/or financial reporting for multiple facilities. Works closely with business-line finance staff to ensure all transactions are captured and properly accounted for.
3. Maintains financial reporting database and provides training as needed for accounting and business-line staff to facilitate financial analysis and reporting.
4. Completes and/or reviews general ledger account reconciliations including those requested as part of annual external audit.
5. Acts as technical resource for accounting and finance staff, department managers, and other company leaders when accounting or reporting issues arise. Coordinates consistent application of Generally Accepted Accounting Policies (GAAP) and Sarbanes-Oxley provisions.
6. Researches errors to determine cause and correct system setup or procedures to prevent the errors from reoccurring. Makes appropriate general ledger corrections and works with IT or other resources to correct any system setup or procedural problems.
7. Participates in system design, implementation, training, and testing teams for new financial applications such as patient accounting system changes, automation of manual processes, and new company acquisition.
8. This position is responsible for a significant business segment, working at the corporate level to support operations as well as address problems from a business-line perspective. Position interacts with department managers from multiple facilities/businesses, operations CFO’s, and operations finance personnel at all levels. Interaction with information technology is needed to communicate information system needs and enhancements. The position’s primary external interactions are with external auditors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
Requires a proficiency level typically attained with seven years experience in health care including demonstrated abilities in the areas of general ledger accounting and sophisticated reporting systems. Must have excellent analytical ability and communications skills. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and organize, coordinate, and motivate work team.
Must have comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, an understanding of financial reporting and databases, and ability to use complex spreadsheets.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters in Business Administration (MBA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
Estimated Pay Range:
$46.84 - $78.06 / hour Banner Health is committed to pay equity and transparency.
