Overview
The Senior Group Sales Manager is responsible for generating and growing profitable group business while building strong client relationships that support the hotel's revenue goals. This role represents the luxury brand through strategic sales efforts, exceptional client service, and effective collaboration with internal teams to deliver seamless experiences and maximize guest room, catering, and ancillary revenue opportunities
Responsibilities
- Cross-functional collaboration with Revenue Management, Catering, Events, Operations, and Marketing.
- Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.
- Leading client experiences from inquiry through execution.
- Meet or exceed set goals.
- Support the team by being a resource to help guide sales processes, contracting, and inventory management.
- Participate in required M.O.D. and Saturday office coverage as scheduled.
- Initiate and follow up on leads assisting with team compliance to response guidelines.
- Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program.
- Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market.
- Regularly contact existing accounts based on the tracing frequencies of the Account Coverage Program.
- Meet or exceed sales solicitation call goals as assigned by the Director of Sales.
- Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, lunches, tours, and site inspections.
- Assist in leading and implementing special promotions relating to direct sales segments, i.e. parties, sales blitzes, Fam events etc.
- Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner.
- Be familiar with all Highgate Hotel sales policies and selling techniques with an emphasis on maximizing occupancy and Average Daily Rate (ADR).
- Conduct creative and professional, thorough site inspection of the hotel with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the property.
- Use your property’s computerized sales management system to manage the hotel’s business, including (but not limited to) generating reports, entering business, blocking space and building accounts.
- Meet and greet onsite contacts.
- Abide by Prime Selling Time (PST).
- Develop networking opportunities through active participation in community and professional associations, activities and events.
- Review meeting planner evaluations with the Director of Sales to ensure that issues receive follow-up.
- Attend and travel to trade shows within your market.
- Service group needs as required.
- Handle inquiries as part of Inquiry Day Program.
Qualifications
- Experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
- CI/ Marriott Experience a plus.
- Luxury Hotel Sales experience preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- College course work in the related field is helpful.
- Must be skilled in Windows, Company approved spreadsheets and word processing.

For Employees Based in Colorado:
- 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year
- Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
- 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
For Employees Based in California:
- 8 paid holidays per year
- Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
- Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
Please note that certain benefits described above for associates in Washington, Colorado, and California may vary for associates covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (“CBA”). For such associates, eligibility for and the terms and conditions of benefits are governed by the applicable CBA and any applicable plan documents, and may differ from the benefits described above. In the event of any conflict or inconsistency, the terms of the applicable CBA and governing plan documents will control, as applicable.
