MEDICAL ASSISTANT – EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

Schedule: Full-Time, Part-Time | Night Shift

POSITION SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant operates under the direct supervision of licensed nursing personnel to provide safe, compassionate, and efficient patient care in accordance with Clifton Fine Hospital policies, procedures, and protocols. This position supports the Emergency Department team in delivering quality patient care while maintaining a safe and organized environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist with patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in a timely and professional manner.
• Transport patients throughout the facility as needed.
• Collect and maintain accurate patient information while supporting a safe and efficient Emergency Department environment.
• Respond promptly to patient calls for assistance and communicate patient needs to nursing staff.
• Conduct and document patient intake in the Emergency Department.
• Register patients for Emergency Department and other outpatient services.
• Scan and upload paper documents into the appropriate patient medical record.
• Following successful completion of the CFH Specimen Collection: Swabbing Competency Program, obtain specimens for medical testing within the individual's scope of practice.
• Perform Point-of-Care (POC) testing as appropriate to the position and scope of practice.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support patient care and Emergency Department operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a recognized Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire.
• Previous CNA experience preferred; Emergency Department experience is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY

This position may be full-time or part-time, based on the needs of the Hospital and the employee's availability.

Schedules may include a variety of shifts, including:

• 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Other shifts as determined by organizational needs
• Weekends and some holidays are required
