Description
As a Security Officer, you will help create and maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for guests, residents, tenants, visitors, and team members across our commercial and residential properties. You will combine strong security practices with a hospitality-minded approach, providing professional, courteous, and responsive service while protecting people, property, and assets.
You are often one of the first points of contact for those visiting or living within our properties. Your ability to anticipate needs, provide helpful information, build positive relationships, and respond calmly and professionally to a wide range of situations is essential to delivering an exceptional experience.
About the role
Effectively monitor property and assets using closed-circuit surveillance systems.
Monitor and control access to the property by auditing and creating access groups.
Patrol assigned areas frequently to identify unsafe conditions, security concerns, and inoperative safety equipment.
Maintain a visible and approachable security presence while providing professional and courteous service to guests, residents, tenants, visitors, and team members.
Generate shift logs identifying and documenting activity occurring during assigned shifts.
Follow proper investigative procedures for loss of hotel, residential, commercial, and property assets by ensuring policy compliance, investigating loss claims from guests, residents, tenants, and visitors, and conducting special investigations and surveillance related to incidents such as internal and external theft.
Generate, review, store, and maintain accurate records and reports of all incidents.
Maintain knowledge of property activities, amenities, services, and events to provide guests, residents, tenants, and visitors with accurate information and assistance as requested.
Verify age and identification using an identification-verifying device to confirm all guests consuming alcohol are at least 21 years of age.
De-escalate conflict situations using sound judgment, professionalism, and effective communication to promote the safety, security, and comfort of all team members, guests, residents, tenants, and visitors.
Perform and enforce directives set forth by security leadership, including special details, assignments, and other security-related responsibilities.
Respond promptly and professionally to security, safety, and service-related concerns while maintaining a hospitality-focused approach.
Collaborate with property teams and leadership to support a safe, welcoming, and positive environment across commercial and residential spaces.
About you
You are a security professional who understands that exceptional security and exceptional hospitality go hand in hand. You are observant, dependable, service-oriented, and comfortable interacting with a diverse range of guests, residents, tenants, visitors, and team members.
Minimum Qualifications
1 year of relevant experience in the physical security and/or hospitality industry.
Availability to work a contingent, flexible schedule, including day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts as needed to support 24-hour operations.
Ability to be on-call and respond to staffing needs when requested, including weekends and holidays.
Ability to spend eight-hour shifts both sitting at a desk and/or walking to patrol assigned areas.
Ability to climb 10 flights of stairs at a time in case of emergency.
Proficiency with technology, including desktop computers, mobile devices, and mobile applications.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with guests, residents, tenants, visitors, and team members.
Ability to remain calm, professional, and service-oriented when responding to challenging or high-pressure situations.
Preferred Qualifications
3 years of relevant experience in a physical security, military or law enforcement role.
CPR/First-Aid certification.
Experience working in a hotel, residential, commercial, mixed-use, or other hospitality-oriented property environment.
