As a Department Dispatcher, you’ll be a key point of communication, receiving and coordinating requests, prioritizing needs, and connecting them with the appropriate resources. Your friendly, courteous, and compassionate approach will help ensure every interaction is handled with care and efficiency.
This role also offers opportunities to build valuable hospital operations and communication skills while growing your career. With a clear development path from Dispatcher to EVS Lead to Supervisor, team members can gain hands-on experience, strengthen their skills, and explore opportunities for internal advancement based on performance and experience.
A caregiver in this position works 11:00pm—7:30am (3rd shift). Every third weekend (full weekend). Every third holiday.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Conduct friendly, courteous, compassionate and helpful communications with customers.
Dispatch requests in a timely manner and communicate status updates/delays to customers.
Receive and log requests through applicable software/tracking.
Other duties as assigned.
Answer and manage department phone calls.
Monitor EPIC (hospital tracking system) and Vovlo (housekeeping request system).
Assign and verify housekeeping dispatches (ensuring one task per housekeeper at a time).
Update hourly reports sent via Teams and email.
Manage pest control requests and follow-ups.
Coordinate and monitor room turnaround post-patient discharge.
Call Apex for updates when needed.
Communicate across departments (e.g., with nurses for non-housekeeping requests).
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
1 year of customer service experience in a role that requires exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to interact with customers over the phone for most of the day
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Previous experience in a high-volume call center or dispatch facility
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods•
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment•
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information•
Ability to move/transport items weighing up to 25 pounds (lbs.)
