Description
The Engineering & Logistics Manager is responsible for leading the Automation Engineering, Maintenance, and Internal Logistics functions of the site. The role oversees the planning, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of engineering projects, automation systems, maintenance strategies, and warehouse operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing performance.
This position partners closely with Operations, Technology, Supply Chain, and Process Engineering teams to drive operational excellence, manage capital investments, support business growth, and ensure compliance with EHS, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the role leads a multidisciplinary team of approximately 15 employees.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Automation Leadership
- Develop and execute automation engineering strategies aligned with site objectives and long-term operational needs.
- Lead feasibility studies, engineering design, and project planning activities for new and existing manufacturing assets.
- Define and manage capital investment plans and spending forecasts related to automation projects.
- Oversee the design, installation, commissioning, and optimization of automated production equipment.
- Identify and implement innovative engineering solutions to improve plant productivity, reliability, and efficiency.
- Manage engineering budgets and ensure projects are delivered on time and within approved costs.
- Support engineering procurement activities, from technical requirements definition through supplier selection.
Project Management
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Coordinate cross-functional engineering teams and external contractors.
- Monitor project execution, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, timelines, and company standards.
- Manage change requests, contract variations, and project documentation.
- Provide regular project progress updates to plant leadership.
Maintenance Management
- Lead and coordinate maintenance activities delivered through external service providers.
- Drive maintenance excellence through effective planning, KPI monitoring, and cost control.
- Manage supplier contracts, service levels, invoicing, and performance reviews.
- Support the implementation of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) methodologies and maintenance digitalization initiatives.
- Ensure equipment reliability and plant continuity while maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
Internal Logistics & Warehouse Operations
- Lead the Internal Logistics and Warehouse teams, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
- Redesign and optimize raw material warehouse processes, layouts, and material flow.
- Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain teams to improve logistics performance and service levels.
- Define and monitor logistics KPIs and SLAs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve logistics excellence and operational efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Compliance
- Partner with Operations, Technology, Process Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to deliver an integrated site approach.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of equipment, facility, utility, and infrastructure issues.
- Participate in site governance and strategic planning meetings.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including EHS, ISO standards, IATF requirements, and plant management systems.
- Lead technical decision-making and conflict resolution across engineering disciplines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong knowledge of automation systems, maintenance management, and industrial engineering practices.
- Experience in warehouse operations, internal logistics, and supply chain coordination.
- Knowledge of utilities engineering and chemical process risk management.
- Proven track record managing capital projects within a manufacturing environment.
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering, maintenance, automation, or logistics teams.
- Experience managing external suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
- Proven project management experience, including budgeting, planning, and execution of capital investments.
The base salary range for this position is 75.000,00 eur to 85.000,00 eur per year, with a possibility of an annual bonus up to 13% of base salary.
