Hatchery Operator HY03
The starting pay for this position is $18.20/hr. with a $1.00 shift increase for second/third shifts. The facility may also operate on weekends and holidays, as needed, to meet production requirements and ensure continuous animal care and hatchery operations.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Hatchery Operator HY03 is responsible for supporting hatchery operations through advanced equipment monitoring, operational data tracking, and basic maintenance activities while ensuring efficient hatchery performance. This position monitors incubator and hatcher systems, collects and records operational data, performs minor equipment repairs, assists with preventative maintenance, and maintains required records while adhering to all safety, biosecurity, animal welfare, sanitation, quality, and company policy standards.
Work Schedule:
This position is scheduled to work for the following hours:
- Monday: 4:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- Tuesday: 4:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- Saturday: 3:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Sunday: 3:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Shift times, hours, weekends, and holidays may fluctuate based on production needs. All holidays are expected if it falls on a scheduled work day.
Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include monitoring hatchery equipment performance, tracking operational data, making machine adjustments to maintain performance standards, performing minor non-electrical repairs, assisting with preventative maintenance activities, maintaining repair records, and communicating equipment issues to Maintenance. This position requires the safe use of hand and power tools, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting hatchery production goals.
Perform all responsibilities and requirements of the Hatchery Worker Labor HY02 position. Collect, track, and maintain hatchery production and equipment performance data. Monitor incubator and hatcher performance to ensure optimal operating conditions. Adjust machine settings as necessary to maintain operational performance and production standards. Perform minor non-electrical equipment repairs and troubleshooting. Safely operate and utilize hand tools and power tools as required. Assist with preventative maintenance activities and routine equipment inspections. Report major equipment failures and maintenance concerns to the Maintenance Department. Maintain accurate repair logs, maintenance records, and equipment documentation. Follow all safety, animal welfare, biosecurity, quality assurance, sanitation, and GMP guidelines; report issues to the supervisor or appropriate leader. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift. Assist with other hatchery or departmental tasks as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Must be willing and able to perform the following:
Must be willing and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be willing and able to stand for extended periods up to 10 hours. Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed throughout the shift. Must be willing and able to work in hatchery conditions including hot, cold, wet, humid, dusty, tolerate odors, noisy environments and varying temperatures. Must be willing and able to bend, reach, push, pull, climb, twist, and perform repetitive motions as required by the position. Must be willing and able to work around moving machinery and production equipment. Must be willing and able to safely use hand tools and power tools. Must be willing and able to wear required personal protective equipment. Must be willing and able to work around poultry, feathers, dust, and other hatchery-related materials. Must follow all Tyson biosecurity policies and procedures, including any facility-specific requirements related to personal protective equipment, visitor restrictions, animal contact, sanitation, and movement between areas as required.
External Education and Experience:
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required; ability to follow written and verbal instructions, work safely in a production environment, and perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and equipment adjustments.
Preferred: Previous hatchery, poultry, manufacturing, agricultural, or production experience; experience operating hatchery equipment, collecting production data, performing preventative maintenance activities, using hand and power tools, and maintaining operational records.
Rehire Criteria:
· Former Tyson Team Members must be separated from the company for a minimum of 180 calendar days.
· Also, if you have worked at Tyson 3 times or more you will not be eligible for rehire.
