Description

As a thought-leader and best-in-class provider in education, wellness, youth development, and community-building, The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is one of the oldest and most essential non-profits serving in Atlanta. Today, we’re looking for you to join us as we carry out our mission to positively impact lives and communities across the state.

At the Y, we’re an association of like-minded people (staff, volunteers, and members), on the forefront of a movement to ensure that everyone -- especially children -- experience an equal opportunity to reach their full potential. In the course of a year, we provide more than 3,000 children, ages 6 weeks through Pre-K with high-quality literacy and STEAM-infused learning; give 58,000 youth and teens access to sports, aquatics, day and resident camps, teen leadership development programs, and employment opportunities; provide over 200,000 members with programs, services, and facilities to enjoy connection and maintain wellness regardless of age; and engage over 25,000 volunteers and donors from across Atlanta to share in the gift of supporting their communities.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Reporting directly to the Director of Financial Controls and Compliance and is responsible for supporting the effective administration of federally and state-funded programs, including nutrition programs (USDA/CACFP, SFSP) and other subsidy-supported initiatives such as DFACS, Housing Authority, and 21st Century programs. This role ensures program compliance with all applicable regulations, timely reporting, and adherence to funding requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

  • Review and communicate updates, requests, and compliance requirements from government funding sources to relevant staff including branch leadership and Executive Directors.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential record keeping systems for federally and state-funded programs, including enrollment, attendance, claims, and required documentation.
  • Prepare and submit annual renewal applications for program sponsorships and grant participation across multiple funding streams.
  • Review, prepare, and submit monthly reimbursement and claim reports (e.g., CACFP, SFSP, DFACS, Housing Authority, 21st Century, etc.).
  • Monitor program invoices, reports, and reimbursement documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Consolidate Afterschool program documentation for Bright from the Start (BFTS) and other governing agencies to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Provide monthly accruals, adjustments, and supporting documentation to the Accounting Department and approved third-party partners.
  • Support compliance reporting for state-funded Pre-K programs and shared-site partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and validate payroll requests tied to grant-funded positions and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Conduct pre-operational compliance reviews for new program sites and complete documentation required for regulatory approval.
  • Facilitate required annual training and orientations related to funded program compliance, including CACFP and other applicable grants.
  • Participate in periodic onsite and virtual monitoring reviews, follow-ups, and corrective action processes; and including support for audits.
  • Support procurement and bid review processes, ensuring alignment with grant-funded purchasing policies and requirements.
  • Perform various ad hoc financial projects and scenario analyses, as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar OR a high school diploma and 2+ years in accounting, bookkeeping, or office management
  • Technical ability and knowledge to run reports
  • Proficient working knowledge of accounting, bookkeeping, or office management practices
  • Ability to organize and meet deadlines
  • Must be proficient in hardware and software computer skills
  • Must possess project management skills
  • Must possess good communication and organization skills and be able to carry out job duties with minimal supervision
  • Must be highly self-directed, able to manage workflow, proactively identify issues, and present proposed solutions rather than just raising problems.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of experience in office administration
  • 3+ years of experience in grants administration and/or accounting

Employment and Benefits package for this job posting is offered through the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta, Inc.
