Location: Goderich, ON, On-Site (possible hybrid if close enough)

Reports to: VP of Operations
Salary: $115k-$130k./yr

Our client, a leader in the manufacturing and engineering world is looking for an experienced Professional Engineer to play a key role in the design, analysis, approval and continuous improvement of the innovative fabric-covered building systems. Reporting to the VP of Operations, you will be responsible for engineering design, structural analysis, technical review and approval while working closely with the design, manufacturing, sales and product development teams. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to new product development, engineering standards, process improvement and technical innovation.

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop, review, and approve engineering designs, calculations, and cost estimates.
  • Perform structural analysis, modelling, and FEA for fabric buildings, rigid frames, foundations, and related components using RAM Elements, STAAD, or equivalent software.
  • Prepare, validate, and maintain engineering calculations, load tables, ratings, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable Canadian and U.S. building codes, standards, regulations, and project specifications.
  • Review and seal engineering drawings and technical documents while maintaining applicable professional engineering registrations.
  • Support compliance programs including CSA A660, AWS, CWB, CE, and participate in audits and certification activities.
  • Collaborate with management, sales, manufacturing, contractors, consultants, customers, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide technical support throughout projects, including design, manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, assessments, and field investigations as required.
  • Optimize designs, materials, manufacturing processes, productivity, and costs.
  • Support product development, continuous improvement, engineering standards, and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and support quality assurance and quality control.
  • Use engineering data and KPIs to support decision-making and project performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and help develop engineers, technologists, designers, and other technical staff.

 

 

 Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.

· Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing with a Canadian provincial or territorial engineering body.

· Certificate of Authorization is required.

· Must be able to stamp structural drawings.

· Familiarity with Canadian and U.S. Building Codes.

· 5–8 years of progressive engineering experience, preferably in structural engineering, building systems, pre-engineered buildings, fabric structures or a related industry.

· Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, load analysis and building design.

· Experience with structural analysis and engineering design.

· Experience with steel design, foundation systems and connection design.

· Experience preparing and reviewing engineering calculations, technical reports, design packages and construction documentation.

· Experience reviewing and sealing engineering drawings and documents.

· Experience applying Canadian and/or U.S. building codes and design standards.

· Experience supporting manufacturing, fabrication, installation or construction activities.

· Experience with costing materials and buildings.

· Experience with quality assurance, audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Experience with multiple building material types.

· AutoCAD

· SAP2000 - asset

· RISA - asset

· Dlubal - asset

or equivalent engineering software.

·      Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word and Outlook, are also required.

·      Experience with fabric membrane structures, tensioned fabric systems and pre-engineered building systems is considered a strong asset.
