About our Department:

A division of Urban & Economic Development, the Community Development mission is three-fold; stabilization of lower income neighborhoods, economic empowerment of lower income persons and/or of persons living in lower income neighborhoods and providing assistance to the special needs population in our community. 

Housing Construction Supervisor Position Overview: 

This is technical, administrative, and supervisory work responsible for all housing construction efforts in the Department of Community Development. Work involves responsibility for project management, supervising, and coordinating multiple construction projects from development through completion. Work also involves planning, organizing and scheduling activities, personnel, and equipment necessary to complete construction projects according to design specifications, budget and schedule. Serves as the representative for the City of Huntsville on multiple city rehabilitation projects. Responsible for assuring with independent judgment and action that all new home construction and rehabilitation projects meet all local laws, ordinances, building codes, and policies. The incumbent must ensure all projects meet the guidelines set by H.U.D., ADEM, ADECA, EPA, OSHA, Health Department, Davis Bacon, competitive bid laws, and City procurement requirements. 

Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:

High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency, preferably supplemented by college level courses in building construction, technology, business administration, accounting or a related field; and considerable experience in housing construction and rehabilitation.
