MIG/TIG Welder – Machine Shop
Elmwood Park, IL | $29–$36 per hour, based on experience and skill level
About the Role
A machine shop in Elmwood Park is adding a skilled welder. This is a hands-on position for someone who reads prints independently, manages their own jobs, and takes pride in clean, consistent MIG and TIG work, quality, and safety.
What You'll Do
Welding
- Perform MIG and TIG welding to blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical specifications
- Read weld symbols, dimensions, and notes to select the right process and setup
- Produce clean, consistent welds with minimal supervision
Quality and Safety
- Inspect your own welds for quality, fit, and compliance with the drawing
- Follow all shop safety procedures and keep your work area clean and organized
What You Bring
Required
- 3+ years of professional welding experience in a machine shop, manufacturing, or fabrication environment (strong candidates with 2+ years may be considered)
- Strong MIG welding skills and TIG welding experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and technical specifications
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail
- Commitment to safe work practices
Preferred
- 5+ years of welding experience
- Welding certifications
- Additional machine shop or industrial manufacturing experience
