Description

Kinema Fitness | Boston, MA
Work arrangement: Primarily onsite hybrid role
Travel: Up to 25% out of state, as needed

Kinema Fitness is a national fitness management company providing onsite fitness and wellness solutions to corporate facilities across the country. We are seeking an experienced Regional Director to oversee our assigned Boston-area fitness centers, develop our onsite teams, and strengthen client relationships.

This role requires a hands-on leader who combines operational discipline with strong communication and independent judgment. You should be comfortable identifying problems, gathering information, developing solutions, and following through without waiting for step-by-step direction.

Work Location and Travel
This position requires regular, in-person involvement across assigned fitness centers. You must be able to commute easily into Boston and should expect to spend most workdays at a site. Working from home is available as responsibilities and operational needs allow.
You must also be available for out-of-state travel when requested, up to 25% as needed, to support site operations, teams, and company initiatives.

What You Will Do

Lead and Develop Teams
  • Oversee assigned fitness centers and managers, holding teams accountable for service quality, operational standards, and performance.
  • Coach and mentor managers to strengthen their leadership, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Set clear expectations, provide direct feedback, and follow through on commitments.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, ensuring onsite teams understand priorities and senior leadership receives timely, accurate updates.
  • Help managers navigate operational challenges and provide hands-on support when needed.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire instructors and vendors as needed.
Manage Operations and Performance
  • Assess site performance and identify opportunities to improve engagement, membership, revenue, and the member experience.
  • Analyze membership trends, program participation, fitness center utilization, and member feedback to guide decisions.
  • Ensure payroll submissions and month-end reporting are accurate and completed on time.
  • Oversee monthly reporting on membership, class attendance, personal training, and other key performance metrics.
  • Maintain a consistent onsite presence to evaluate operations, support managers, and ensure follow-through.
  • Ensure marketing materials are current, available, and aligned with upcoming programming.
  • Keep leadership informed of progress, challenges, and recommended solutions through routine reporting.
Strengthen Client Relationships
  • Serve as the primary contact for assigned clients and maintain responsive, professional relationships.
  • Lead monthly client meetings with clear agendas, meaningful updates, and documented follow-up.
  • Address client concerns promptly and coordinate solutions through completion.
  • Lead tenant outreach, meet-and-greets, and engagement initiatives that connect people with the fitness center.
  • Translate client priorities into practical actions for onsite teams.
Grow Membership and Programming
  • Develop inclusive, effective fitness and wellness programming that reflects member interests and site needs.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders and site contacts to support enrollment and participation.
  • Use surveys and feedback to identify new offerings and improve existing programs.
  • Oversee group fitness schedules and monitor attendance, participation, and satisfaction.
  • Support personal training growth and promotion of complimentary consultations.
  • Help resolve member and tenant concerns and consistently improve the service experience.
Maintain Facility and Safety Standards
  • Hold teams accountable for high standards of hospitality, cleanliness, organization, and maintenance throughout fitness centers and locker rooms.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs to identify service gaps, maintenance needs, and potential safety hazards.
  • Ensure towels, amenities, and supplies are stocked and spaces are ready for members.
  • Oversee inventory, supply ordering, equipment maintenance, and repair coordination.
  • Reinforce safety procedures and ensure identified issues are addressed promptly.
  • Model a hands-on approach and assist with onsite needs when necessary.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or a related field.
  • At least four years of corporate fitness management experience.
  • Current personal training certification and CPR/AED certification.
  • Demonstrated success managing teams, developing managers, and improving business performance.
  • A proven track record of clear, professional communication with direct reports, senior leadership, and clients.
  • Experience mentoring others and building their ability to work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to make decisions with limited direction.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and follow-through across multiple sites and competing priorities.
  • Experience with health promotion programming and leading group fitness classes.
  • Ability to build an inclusive, positive team culture while maintaining clear accountability.
  • Ability to commute easily into Boston, work onsite most days, and travel out of state up to 25% as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field
  • Four years of corporate fitness management experience
  • Certified Personal Trainer Certificate
  • Certified CPR/AED
  • Proven ability to drive revenue, manage team and lead overall business performance
  • Experience with health promotion programs
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Experience leading group fitness classes
  •  Ability to inspire team and drive a positive, high-energy culture
How You Work
You take ownership of results. When an issue arises, you investigate, ask focused questions, use available resources, and recommend a path forward. You can work through unfamiliar challenges, adjust when circumstances change, and close the loop.

You also know when to involve leadership. You raise concerns early, communicate their impact, and bring recommendations whenever possible. You help your managers build the same habits.

This posting outlines the general responsibilities and qualifications of the role. Responsibilities may be adjusted based on business and operational needs.
