Overview
Job Purpose
The Senior Business Analyst for Product Development supports the design, migration, and ongoing evolution of ICE's Reference Data System, the platform that generates derivative market reference data across ICE's global futures and options markets. This role bridges business, operations, and engineering by drafting precise requirements, conducting deep data analysis, implementing process controls, and producing artifacts that guide engineering delivery. The role requires strong analytical judgment, data fluency, and the ability to work independently across a technically complex domain.
Responsibilities
- Analyze complex business needs and translate into functional requirements, centered around data quality.
- Gather technical requirements from downstream consumers and derive rules for upstream data calculations.
- Design, develop, and implement data validation library in coordination with business, operations, and engineering stakeholders.
- Conduct deep research across loosely coupled systems, synthesize findings, and produce actionable requirements.
- Investigate data quality issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Proactively review existing implementations and suggest improvements.
- Lead continuous process improvements that supports the Reference Data Operations team.
- Build and maintain a knowledge base that reflects ICE’s derivatives business domain.
- Lead project planning sessions and requirement review sessions across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Draft PoCs, wireframes, and mockups to be handed off to engineering team for implementation.
- Contribute to Agentic AI SDLC: the development of AI for full SDLC automation to increase productivity without sacrificing quality.
- Work with project management & QA teams to automate test cases to accelerate SDLC timelines without sacrificing quality.
Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related.
- 5+ years of related product development or equivalent experience required.
- Extremely attentive to detail; extremely process-driven; extremely goal-oriented.
- Experience with AI-assisted analysis tooling (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot).
- Experience implementing data governance standards across big, complex data sets.
- Experience developing automated workflows that scale.
- Experience with PL/SQL and Python required; must be able to independently create and refine advanced database queries for data analysis.
- Experience with integrating data flows across multiple systems.
- Experience implementing data observability, data monitoring tooling, or other Business Rule Management Systems (BRMS).
- Strong SQL skills for database query execution and refinement; thorough understanding of relational databases and data modeling principles.
- Exhibits a willingness and desire to learn diverse, job-appropriate technologies and technical skills. Capacity to understand technical concepts, processes, procedures, and tools.
- Deep understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies, with proven experience translating complex business needs into actionable requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, design documentation, process flows, and wireframes.
- Strong organizational and multi‑tasking abilities, capable of managing multiple projects, priorities, and communication channels in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to understand, document, and communicate technical workflows such as system integration patterns, event‑driven architectures, data pipelines, business events, and API endpoint behavior.
- Tableau, Power BI, or similar data analysis tool experience a plus.
- Experience working with object-oriented programming language (Java, Kotlin, etc.) a plus.
- Strategy consulting experience a plus.
