Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Nuclear Med Tech, you will be a specialized healthcare professional, vital in providing diagnostic and therapeutic services through the precise application of radionuclides.
Every day, you will expertly perform Nuclear Medicine procedures, utilizing radionuclides to produce high-quality images and data for licensed practitioners. You'll ensure appropriate patient care, recognize conditions essential for successful procedures, administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate equipment, and adhere to strict radiation safety.
To be successful in this role demands current certification, advanced technical expertise, and an exceptional eye for detail, coupled with a thorough understanding of radiation safety. Your compassionate patient care and dedication to precise imaging will be essential.
Performs diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures in accordance with department standards, and in keeping with the orders of the referring physician.
Operates all nuclear medicine equipment, survey meters, counters, and computers.
Prepares and calibrates radioactive tracer compounds for patient use.
Appropriately administers radioisotopes.
Performs quality control tests, assists in equipment calibration and radioisotope assay operations.
Maintains all records of radioisotopes received, used, stored and disposed, in accordance with local State and Federal regulations regarding the accountability for radioactive materials. Maintains records of exposure and monitoring meeting all State and Federal regulations.
Job Requirements
Required
- California Nuclear Medical Technologist: CA (NMTL:CA) upon hire and
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) upon hire or
- Registered Technologist Nuclear Medicine Technology (RTN) upon hire and
- American Heart Association BLS-CPR upon hire
Preferred
- Registered Technologist Computed Tomography (RTCT)
- Six months previous experience as a nuclear medicine technologist
- Interventional CT, 3-D, CT image reconstruction experience
