Job Description:
The Electrical Integration Specialist serves as the electrical technical authority on the manufacturing floor, partnering closely with Design Engineering, Project Management, Sales, Operations, and Service. This role provides hands-on guidance to electricians, ensures electrical requirements are integrated accurately throughout the build, and keeps Operations informed of electrical readiness, risks, and issues. The position helps identify drawing, specification, installation, and integration concerns early so they can be resolved before they affect quality, schedule, testing, or shipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the go-to technical resource for electricians regarding installation methods, cable routing, terminations, labeling, and drawing interpretation.
- Guide heavy-amperage cable routing and connections on 2000A and larger systems, including bend radius, cable support, lugging, torque requirements, and phase arrangement.
- Coach electricians on electrical best practices, safe work habits, testing procedures, and labeling standards.
- Keep Operations informed of electrical workflow, project readiness, constraints, and issues that may affect build schedules or shipment.
- Review customer specifications and proposals with Sales and Engineering before commitments are finalized to identify electrical requirements and potential risks.
- Identify drawing errors, specification conflicts, and electrical integration issues early and coordinate with the appropriate teams to drive resolution.
- Inspect completed electrical work against drawings, customer specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards before shipment.
- Establish and reinforce consistent standards for panel layouts, wiring practices, cable routing, labeling, and component placement across product lines.
- Support factory acceptance testing, startup activities, troubleshooting, and customer issue resolution as needed.
- Confirm customer-supplied and vendor-supplied electrical equipment is compatible with the design and communicate timing or integration risks to Operations and Supply Chain.
- Partner with Engineering to help maintain accurate and current drawings, wiring diagrams, and bills of material (BOMs).
- Ensure electrical work is performed in accordance with applicable National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.
- Support cross-training and knowledge sharing to strengthen team coverage and electrical capabilities.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on electrical quality, reduction of rework, and improved build time.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent field experience will be considered.
- 8+ years of experience in electrical construction, switchgear, power generation, industrial panel work, or a related electrical environment.
- Superintendent or Project Manager experience required.
- Strong experience with heavy-amperage cable routing and connections on 2000A and higher systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and influence electricians without direct reporting authority.
- Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC); UL 508A or UL 698A knowledge is a plus.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, drawings, and customer specifications.
- Hands-on troubleshooting and testing experience using standard electrical test equipment.
- Working knowledge of generators, transformers, switchboards, breakers, controllers, motors, and heating systems.
- Fuel system controls experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with field crews, customers, vendors, Engineering, Sales, and Operations.
- Ability to teach and explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ERP experience is a plus.
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license is a plus.
- Ability and willingness to travel to company facilities, customer sites, and vendor locations as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move between office and manufacturing-floor environments throughout the workday.
- Ability to walk the manufacturing floor, stand, bend, and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safely access manufacturing and construction areas.
- Ability to travel between company facilities, customer sites, and vendor locations as required.
