The CARE Department is excited to announce it is seeking qualified and motivated individuals to apply for the available Training Coordinator position in the Community Crisis Responder (CCR) Division. This position works directly with CCR Division leadership to create, design, and implement culturally responsive, multidisciplinary, and trauma-informed curriculum that establishes best practices and competencies for crisis responders. This includes training (classroom and field training), continuous education, and professional development. The CCR division consists of diverse behavioral health professionals who respond to 911 and non-emergency calls independently and in combination with police and fire/EMS city partners. This position reports to the Director of Crisis Response. You will be successful in this role if you’re highly organized and motivated by public service, collaborative work environments, and crisis response.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Develops and analyzes overall CCR training plan including budget preparation, proposed training programs and delivery systems; policies, procedures, and manuals/guidelines; coordinates management input for definition of training requirements; presents and defends annual training plan.
- Designs and implements training programs including defining objectives, selecting methods, designing program evaluations, organizing resources and preparing workplans, and monitoring both program and cost performance; Coordinates and facilitates Citywide and/or in-house training efforts and resources as needed.
- Develops operating guidelines to meet training needs; analyzes and recommends improvements to any aspect of training function.
- May lead other training professionals and administrative support staff.
- Leads ongoing training curriculum audits and assesses various training needs; proposes innovative solutions to complex and politically sensitive issues.
- Designs and conducts seminars for instruction of employees and managers; coordinates and reviews technical training presentations.
- Identifies need for consultant support on projects; selects external consultants, contracts and evaluates performance.
- Researches developments in training methodology; prepares evaluative reports on training program effectiveness and budget; designs and maintains automated training record system.
- Provide ongoing project management support and resolve problems as needed and prepare timely, accurate, and meaningful project reports for Leadership.
- Establish and maintain good working relations with department personnel, staff, vendors, peers, and management.
Self-direction, resourcefulness, priority-setting, and effective management of multiple tasks. General understanding of public policy and training system development.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Three years of professional experience in adult training/education administration, training project management, and/or educational consulting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Science, Business or Public Administration, or a related field (Other combinations of education, training and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability).
- Must successfully pass an FBI Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check.
- Requires a State of Washington driver’s license.

- Technology: Exceptional skills in using technology and software, including Microsoft Office suite, and ability to learn new technology and databases.
- Learning strategies – selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment, or other specialized work settings such as a busy 24/7 call center and public safety field response environments, which occurs outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Work involves sensitive contact with community members via telephone or in-person.
Compensation and Benefits: This position is a Civil Service protected position and is part of the City of Seattle Training & Education Coordination, Senior pay program. The full 5-step progression for this position is $47.39 - $49.25 - $51.24 - $53.14 - $55.19 per hour.
