Job Description

The System Offices is one of several system members within the Texas A&M University System representing one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a network of 12 universities, a comprehensive health science center, nine state agencies, and the RELLIS Campus. Salary:

$4,180.17 - $6,666.66 per month commensurate with experience.

Job Description Summary:

The New Ventures Assistant Manager, under direction, assists with the development and growth of startup companies to commercialize intellectual properties (IP) owned or developed by The Texas A&M University System (A&M System), interfacing with key internal and external stakeholders to advance new venture creation and related commercialization activities.

Responsibilities:
- Support the proactive identification of emerging technologies for suitability of commercialization through a startup company, in collaboration with Texas A&M Innovation staff and programs as well as through direct outreach to Texas A&M System faculty and research teams.

- Collaborate with both New Ventures and Licensing team members to advance promising technologies through internal processes for due diligence in order to validate potential and inform decision making related to new venture creation, including analysis of problem/solution fit, market opportunity, competitive landscape and related information.

- Facilitate the preparation of formal business plans, due diligence memorandums, and related documentation required to establish new startup companies that can lead commercialization of System-owned IP for validated business opportunities.

- Assist with the preparation of equity-related documents related to Texas A&M equity ownership in startups and other Texas A&M-affiliated companies (including stock agreements, warrant agreements, convertible notes, SAFEs, investor term sheets, and liquidation agreements).

- Contribute to the detailed tracking of the new ventures pipeline - from pre-formation through to scale-up for companies developing Texas A&M IP to: 1) enable required reporting obligations; and 2) routinely provide New Ventures, Innovation, and System leadership with information needed to pursue strategic collaborations and related opportunities.

- Assist with portfolio management by regularly engaging with assigned companies to build a close working relationship with Texas A&M Innovation and facilitate access to appropriate new ventures resources and support, including but not limited to staff and mentor networks for the development of business plans, pitch decks, financial models, and commercialization grant applications; referrals and assistance with applying to incubator, accelerator, pitch competition, and other ecosystem programs; and as appropriate, referrals to investor, industry and other funding partners.

- Participate in various university, regional and national groups/meetings promoting economic and innovation ecosystem development and new venture creation.

- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Occasional travel outside of normal office hours.

- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
