• Part-Time School-based Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30a - 2:45pm

• Salary: (commensurate with education and experience)

  With HS Diploma/GED - $20 - $21.40 per hour

  With BA/BS - $21 - $22.47 per hour

  With MA/MS or higher - $22 - $23.54 per hour

As a 1:1 Classroom Aide, you will provide dedicated one-on-one support to a student throughout the entire school day, ensuring their safety, supervision, and participation in all educational and recreational activities. Assists with personal care needs, including toileting, hygiene, and other daily living activities as appropriate. Supports learning by facilitating participation in individual and small-group instruction, providing prompts and reinforcement, and implementing behavior support plans. Maintains accurate data collection and documentation, upholds confidentiality and professionalism, and participates in required trainings and staff meetings. Also assists with classroom support tasks, special assignments, and other duties as needed while adhering to Devereux's philosophy of providing individualized, accountable, and positive behavioral supports.

Devereux Day Academy Highland, an Approved Private School, offers high-quality, innovative special education programming for students in grades K-5 with the following primary diagnoses: autism, intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbances, learning disabilities and speech/language impairments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required with one year of experience; or Associates/Bachelors degree (preferred) with one (1) year of related experience preferred.
• Valid NY Drivers License required.
• Be flexible, patient, energetic, creative, and have a sense of humor
• Have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adults with special needs.

Physical Requirements: Pre-employment physical required. Significant and frequent amounts of walking, sitting, stooping, bending & standing required. Frequent planned, outside activities causing exposure to sunlight and heat. Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes. Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc. Good manual dexterity.
