JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Impulse, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Budget Analyst in Huntsville, AL. Our client is committed to strategic human resource development and employee support services. The Budget Analyst is responsible for the planning, implementation, reconciliation, and administration of a variety of employee benefits programs, ensuring both compliance and cost-effectiveness in alignment with the organization’s strategic goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepares detailed budget charts, tables, and spreadsheets, as needed in support of a
variety of budgetary analyses and special projects.
• Compiles data using table and graph spreadsheet applications.
• Provides budget recommendations supported by data to respond to a wide range of issues.
• Develops, formulates, and recommends funding scenarios to address concerns and
facilitate resolution to funding queries.
• Assist in the compilation of data and prepare reports required by budget managers for
budgetary planning for fiscal year.
• Conducts training classes developed and offered by Budgeting and Planning department.
• Provides direction and counsel to academic and staff personnel to assist them in
understanding financial reports and data, in controlling their costs and budgets, and in
fulfilling budgetary requirements.
• Assists in the review of departmental budgets for positions and approve payroll
documents availability of funding.
• Provides support to higher level budget analysts in development, implementation, and
management of operational and budgets.
• Responsible for processing of budget transfers
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by Senior Budget Analyst and
Assistant Vice President for Budget.

Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.)
• Bachelor's degree in Business related field
• One to three years of experience in financial management or accounting.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
• University experience is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
• Knowledge of budget procedures, including revenue and expenditure processes, and
local, state, and federal regulations
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures
• Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management
• Effective communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Spreadsheet software skills to quantify and illustrate routine financial reports,
comparisons, impacts, and/or projections
• Fiscal analysis and accounting experience in budget preparation in a nonprofit university
setting
• Ability to analyze budgetary expenditures for compliance with approved budget
• Strong analytical and planning abilities
