The Category Management Manager is a strategic and insight-led role that blends analytics, commercial thinking, customer engagement and cross-functional leadership to drive category growth. The role translates complex insights into actionable category strategies, influencing both internal stakeholders and customers to deliver sustainable growth through optimized assortment, space, visibility across modern and traditional trade channels. Success in this role means identifying category growth opportunities, shaping winning assortment and innovation strategies, supporting joint business planning and becoming a trusted advisor.
Responsibilities
Support the development and execution of category plans aligned with company objectives and customer needs. Identify growth opportunities and lead initiatives that increase revenue, margin and market share based on shopper behavior and category trends.
Analyze multiple sources of data, including shopper, consumer and in-market performance data to identify category opportunities. Convert complex analysis into actionable recommendations and customer-specific category development plans that reflect local market dynamics and consumer needs.
Partner with Sales and Marketing to build quantified business cases for innovation launches. Identify assortment gaps and assess growth opportunities.
Optimize assortment, shelf space, and category performance through data-driven recommendations. Define category and account-specific assortment strategies, improve availability of key products, and establish in-store guidelines to maximize space productivity and visibility.
Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Shopper Insights, Finance and Perfect Store teams. Contribute to annual business planning and Perfect Store execution strategies across key customers.
Act as a trusted advisor to sales teams by providing insights, analytics, and compelling category selling stories. Support execution of category initiatives and innovation launches through fact-based recommendations and customer-focused solutions.
Qualifications
BA required in Business, Marketing, Economics or a related field.
3-5+ years of experience in Category Management, Insights, Marketing and/or Strategy experience within the FMCG industry
Analytical Acumen – ability to translate raw numbers into clear business insights
Well versed in Microsoft suite of products such as Excel, Power Point and PowerBI
Strategic/ Commercial Mindset – Experience with in-market performance data platforms is a must (e.g. Nielsen Discover)
Presentation & relationship-building skills. Excellent communication & influencing skills
Creativity & strategy skills
Stakeholder management: Ability to effectively influence peers & senior commercial executives through sound analysis and relevant story telling
Highly-motivated self-starter with high attention to details
Experience in Shopper Insights is a strong plus for the job
