Description
Overview
Manages material handling automation equipment and projects for implementation in the Innovation Center involving a wide variety of equipment, machines, software, controls, and technologies.
Responsibilities
- Maintains equipment in the Innovation Center (Bolingbrook, IL)
- Facilitates and conducts tours of Innovation Center
- Facilitates and conducts customer product tests on equipment in Innovation Center
- Provides technical and operational information on systems in the Innovation CenterExecutes material handling equipment projects involving structures, conveyors, machinery, and controls.
- Collaborates with an execution and development team to implement industry leading automated systems.
- Delivers subsystems on time, on budget, and tested to machine rate and reliability requirements
- Manages project resources
- Keeps complete records of every project including a change log, action items, punch list, issues and risk monitoring log
- Follows Daifuku standards for documentation and software development
- Provides verbal and written updates to projects, including in-scope deliverables, project issues, and risks
- Ensures the Innocation Center is always presentable for tours
- Travels up to 20% to assist at various jobsites within North America
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements
- Associate degree or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering (Technology), Electrical Engineering (Technology), Mechatronics, or related experience.
- Minimum 2 years in a mechatronics technician role, preferably in conveyor systems or material handling systems.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of material handling, warehouse management systems (WMS), fulfillment or distribution center operations, and supply chain logistics
- Knowledge of automation projects involving machines, robotics, controls, and software
- Knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC)
- Knowledge of business accounting and contracts
- Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project skills
- Ability to handle multiple project assignments and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced results-oriented environment
- Leadership skills
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and listening skills
- Strong organization and collaborative skills
- Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language
