Title: Infrastructure Client Portfolio Manager
Level: Senior Director
Division: Client Portfolio Management
Location: New York, NY
The Opportunity
Barings is seeking a senior Client Portfolio Manager to support its Global Infrastructure platform - across Equity, Debt, and Secondaries. This individual will serve as a strategic link among the investment teams, Global Sales, Product Management, Marketing, and investors, helping drive capital formation, product strategy, investor engagement, and the continued growth of the platform.
The successful candidate will bring deep infrastructure market knowledge, strong client-facing credibility, and the ability to translate complex investment strategies into clear, differentiated messages for sophisticated institutional and wealth audiences. The CPM will represent Barings' infrastructure capabilities globally and, where appropriate, serve as a proxy for portfolio managers in investor discussions.
Principal Responsibilities
Capital Formation & Investor Engagement
- Partner with the Infrastructure Equity, Debt, and Secondaries investment teams and Global Sales to support fundraising and capital formation across institutional, intermediary, and wealth channels.
- Serve as a senior product and investment specialist in meetings with prospective and existing investors, consultants, and strategic partners globally.
- Guide investors through the evaluation and due diligence process, clearly articulating investment strategy, portfolio construction, market outlook, performance drivers, risk considerations, and competitive differentiation.
- Build trusted relationships with regional and global distribution teams and provide timely, high-quality support throughout the client engagement and fundraising lifecycle.
- Help coordinate go-to-market strategies and leverage existing firm and investment-team relationships to identify and advance business opportunities.
Product Strategy & Market Positioning
- Contribute to the development and evolution of infrastructure products and client solutions, including commingled funds, evergreen vehicles, separately managed accounts, co-investments, and bespoke mandates.
- Partner with Global Sales, Product Management and investment teams to assess investor demand, market opportunities, vehicle structures, and product-development priorities across infrastructure equity and debt.
- Maintain a strong understanding of global infrastructure markets, competitor strategies, fundraising dynamics, and emerging investment themes.
- Lead and coordinate the development of investor presentations, marketing materials, thought leadership, due diligence content, and other materials that position the platform effectively.
- Bring investor feedback and market intelligence to platform leadership to help inform product strategy, fundraising priorities, and messaging.
Platform Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as a strategic partner to senior Infrastructure leadership, helping align investment, product, marketing, and distribution priorities across regions.
- Ensure consistent and accurate articulation of the platform's capabilities across strategies, client segments, and markets.
- Lead or actively participate in investor meetings, conferences, consultant engagements, and other external forums.
- Support responses to RFPs, DDQs, consultant requests, and other investor inquiries in partnership with relevant internal teams.
- Mentor colleagues and contribute to a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture across the broader platform.
CRM, Reporting & Governance
- Maintain accurate and timely records of investor activity, opportunities, preferences, status, and next steps in Salesforce CRM.
- Provide platform leadership with clear reporting and insights on investor engagement, fundraising activity, pipeline development, and market feedback.
- Partner effectively with Legal, Compliance, Operations, and other Support and Control functions.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, conduct requirements, firm policies, and mandatory training obligations.
Qualifications & Experience
- 12+ years of relevant experience in infrastructure investing, client portfolio management, product strategy, capital formation, fundraising, investment consulting, or a related investment role.
- Deep knowledge of infrastructure equity and/or infrastructure debt, with the ability to develop fluency across both areas and represent an integrated global platform.
- Demonstrated experience supporting capital raising and engaging sophisticated institutional investors, consultants, wealth platforms, family offices, or other allocators.
- Strong command of private markets fundraising, investor due diligence, portfolio positioning, and product structures.
- Ability to communicate complex investment concepts, portfolio positioning, performance drivers, and market themes with clarity and credibility.
- Credibility with investment professionals and the technical capability to serve as a proxy portfolio manager in investor discussions, when appropriate.
- Broad knowledge of global investment markets, competitive trends, and the evolving infrastructure opportunity set.
- Excellent presentation, writing, relationship-management, and stakeholder-influencing skills.
- Proven ability to operate effectively across global, matrixed teams and manage multiple priorities with sound judgment and attention to detail.
