Job Description

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will design, build, and enhance cloud-native applications that support the R&D organization. Operating at the intersection of science and technology, you will partner with product owners, data experts, and global engineering teams to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions that enable data-driven decision-making.

This role combines full-stack development, cloud engineering, and system design, with increasing ownership of architecture, engineering best practices, and technical leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Development

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable cloud-native applications across front-end and back-end systems
• Build and enhance modern microservice-based architectures and distributed systems
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and system interfaces for enterprise platforms
• Implement infrastructure-as-code solutions and manage cloud environments
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and delivery

Architecture & Design

• Contribute to system architecture, technical design, and engineering standards
• Create detailed technical documentation including:
  • Low-Level Design (LLD)
  • Entity-Relationship (ER) diagrams
  • Component and class diagrams
• Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions

Quality & Reliability

• Implement automated testing frameworks (unit, integration, end-to-end)
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues related to performance and reliability
• Ensure applications meet security, compliance, and operational standards

Collaboration & Delivery

• Work closely with product managers, data SMEs, and cross-functional teams
• Participate in Agile development processes including sprint planning, code reviews, and retrospectives
• Collaborate across global teams and vendors to deliver complex solutions

Data & Platform Integration

• Integrate applications with enterprise R&D systems and scientific data platforms
• Build data pipelines and support data ingestion, transformation, and access
• Enable interoperability using semantic data models and metadata standards

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Drive improvements in development processes, tools, and architecture
• Reduce technical debt and improve system scalability and maintainability
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity
• Contribute to cloud-first strategy and digital innovation across R&D

Leadership & Ownership

• Take end-to-end ownership of features—from design through deployment
• Act as a technical contributor and mentor supporting junior engineers
• Influence stakeholders and help resolve complex technical challenges

 

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and 5+ years of software engineering experience. Or Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with at least one of modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript)
• Experience building full-stack applications (front-end + back-end)
• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue)
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (EC2, RDS, S3, etc.)
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform)
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and cloud-native design
• Experience designing and integrating REST APIs

Data & Systems

• Experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, Neptune)
• Knowledge of data engineering pipelines (e.g., Spark, Databricks)
• Strong understanding of system design and data modeling

Engineering Practices

• Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong understanding of automated testing methodologies
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

Professional Skills

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
• Business acumen and ability to translate technical solutions to business impact
