Backed by Marguerite, a leading pan-European infrastructure fund, Nexun is a fast-growing renewable project development platform active in Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Austria. At Nexun, we are passionate advocates for renewable energy as well as grid infrastructure and are committed to accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy. Join our diverse team to contribute to projects that positively impact communities across Europe.

The **Power/Flexibility Markets Analyst** leads the commercial development, negotiation, and optimization of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, including both standalone storage assets and co-located solar-plus-storage projects. The role focuses on identifying best value and route-to-market for our projects, forecasting revenue schemes and offtake contracts possibilities (Tolling Agreements, PPAs), optimizing the commercial design of our plants to derisk projects and maximize their value at the point of sale (RTB) based on a solid market and technical understanding of electricity markets and asset configurations, negotiating PPAs and Tolling agreements.

Target countries: Italy, Poland, Germany as priority and Spain, Austria and France as secondary markets

## Tasks

  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the electricity markets in at least one of the target countries, including Day-Ahead, Intraday, Ancillary Services, Balancing Markets, Capacity Markets.
  • Monitor regulatory and market developments and evaluate their impact on the revenues and commercial viability of BESS and solar projects.
  • Collect, analyze, and develop electricity price forecasts and revenue projections for standalone BESS and hybrid solar-plus-storage projects.
  • Analyze and compare current route-to-market and optimization models and select and negotiate the optimal role (merchant, tolling, PPA, floor/hybrid structures) for standalone BESS, co-located BESS with photovoltaic (PV) plants, and hybrid renewable energy projects to maximize the RTB value and derisk the projects.
  • Originate, negotiate, and close Tolling Agreements and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with offtakers, utilities, traders, on all type of assets (BESS; collocated etc.)
  • Support the preparation of business cases, investment decisions, financial models, and technical/commercial due diligence processes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the BESS ecosystem and the different target countries, including utilities, energy traders, optimizers, aggregators, transmission and distribution system operators, regulatory authorities, investors, and asset operators.
  • Evaluate and optimize different technical system configurations from both a commercial and market perspective to maximize the RTB value (duration, sizing, PV/BESS ratio etc.)
  • Collaborate closely with Development, Engineering, Finance, and external partners throughout the project lifecycle.

## Requirements

**Technical Qualifications**

  • Good understanding of electricity markets in at least one European target market.
  • Familiarity with Day-Ahead, Intraday, Balancing, Ancillary Services, Capacity Markets, and other flexibility markets.
  • Understanding of current revenue optimization and commercialization models for standalone BESS and co-located renewable energy projects.
  • Ability to interpret and use market models, revenue forecasts, and financial models.
  • Strong Excel skills and financial modeling capabilities
  • Familiarity with Python, Power BI, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Exposure to commercial negotiations, tolling agreements, PPAs, or energy trading is beneficial but not mandatory.

**Analytical Capabilities**

The successful candidate should be able to quantitatively assess how different technical configurations impact project economics. Typical analyses include:

  • Comparing 2-hour and 4-hour battery storage systems with respect to CAPEX, OPEX, revenue potential, and Internal Rate of Return (IRR).
  • Determining the optimal battery size for co-located solar PV projects.
  • Evaluating revenue allocation across energy arbitrage, balancing services, ancillary services, and other flexibility products.
  • Performing scenario and sensitivity analyses covering electricity price forecasts, technology cost reductions, grid connection costs, financing assumptions, and regulatory changes.

**Personal Competencies**

  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills; proven ability to lead and close deals
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken); additional European languages are considered an advantage.

**Education & Experience**

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Energy Economics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Finance, or related discipline.

5-8 years of experience in commercial or offtake origination, PPA/tolling negotiation, route-to-market, or energy trading, combined with a solid understanding of electricity markets and BESS & all renewable assets. A demonstrable deal track record is highly desirable
